Sewing projects.......

Everyone is doing marvelous things and I'm still just keeping up doing my volunteer sewing with our local Salvation Army sewing group. We have completed a couple of wonderful quilts, as well as purses, totebags, pillows, the odd rug or two.......so many things we are getting to put up our own window of articles for sale. I really must get back into some garment sewing and onto other projects I have lined up for myself. *So much sewing, so little time"* What's sitting on your machine.....and I don't mean dust?

Susan's partial finished 10 cushion covers that were to be for Christmas. Of course I did have a few kinks thrown into my world to slow me down.

I have the Diva for 2 days. I maybe back in bed for 2 weeks. I run out of energy as hers builds all day! Susan mentioned the rotary cutter in another post. I bought an old Singer at the thrift store back in the late summer for $30 in a cabinet with all kinds of goodies in the drawers...one being electric scissors! Diva yells "Mine" right off. With school & my surgery, then throw in all my respiratory issues, we haven't had time to let her practice with them yet. Her little left hand does tire quickly. She always makes us a "To Do" list when she arrives at my house. I'll let her add 'practice with electric scissors' to it for one of the days. We are going to try to modify some sleeveless & strap shoulder patterns with a "angel wing" cap sleeve since they aren't allowed to wear anything sleeveless to school. She loves veering from the norm of a pattern already.

Oh my...my pile keeps getting bigger! lol. I'm making sunbonnet sue appliques for a baby quilt and hazy daisy patches to go with the sues, have jeans that need hemmed, 3 patterns I want to make tops for myself(why am I always last on the list???lol) I've been cutting strips to make a string quilt, have a needle case ready to sew, and a pincushion/thread catcher I want to make out of an embroidered pillow case my dh granny made...at least I've finished 2 walker caddies and 2 crayon bags these past two weeks. Oh, and have a quilted sweatshirt jacket just about done. My sewing room is a mess! I need a couple of clones!
    Happy sewing!

Got 2 more dresses for DGD (1 year old) to finish up, 4 are done!
Then I want to make one pair of capris for myself. Need to look for the color fabric I want.
Next up are going to be a couple of UFO's I've got laying around here. I kept saying once we retire and move up north. Well, we sold, we moved, we retired, it's time to pull out some of those UFO's and "git 'er done".

I just bought a new serger and started back to sewing class. Right now I am making DH some red and black plaid flannel boxer shorts.
I will be making some tee shirts soon and some receiving blankets for the new baby expected in June....our next door neighbors will be having their first baby.
I am sure my sewing teacher will have some new projects I will want to try, too.

It's always fun to see what is keeping others busy!!
Carol I'm glad you are getting back into sewing!!
I have been having fun doing these sets. They are the latest fad in the boutique community.
Simple to make, take no time at all and the little girls just love them.

Those are cute little outfits. Can I be nosey and inquire, are you embellishing on prepurchased jeans and tees, or did you start from scratch to create them. Wait until Diva spys these!

The jeans and tees are new. I add the fabrics and trims to them.
Each piece of fabric is sewn on separately.
Your little Diva will need a pair for sure!!!

I don't have a Diva I was meaning Joan and Susan's divas. They seem to have a whole crowd of them to sew for. Your outfits look so nice, I'm sure they will be a hit. Budster

I have been making sundresses for my grandaughters. What fun. I also do daycare in my home and am also making each of my daycare girls one. Now I am getting started on a doll wardrobe for my grandaughter's dollies for Christmas. I also have flannel for pj's for each of them. It is getting harder to find fabric with so many stores closing. We have a big JoAnns on my side in Indianapolis. It is a trip to go but this is about all there is. We have a Hobby Lobby not far but their fabric is so high. I do pick up the end cuts fairly cheap from time to time. I always check them out.

I am also doing some remodling and want to make some topper curtains, basket liners and such. I haven't found just the right shade of country red yet. It seems like I always have something going on. We also have an old schoolhouse in Southern Indiana that we have redone the inside and I have curtains and such to make for there, too.
Never enough time... I just try to enjoy all of it..

Hi! I just read your blog. The web site for Bunk House Books is: www.bunkhousesewing.com. You should see the new books and items there that are fabulouse for teachers! They all have curriculum and patterns within the books. Great quality! Carolyn

    Sienna.
Your toothfairy pillows are so cute! You did a great job on them! The colors are really bright and cheery.
I started sewing when I was 8 years old...so you started sewing earlier than me!! My mom used to teach sewing.

When I was little, and we lost a tooth, we just put it under our pillow. When I grew up, I made my kids toothfairy pillows, but they were not as nice as yours! I made the pocket on the front in the shape of a tooth!

200 Dog booties sounds like a big sewing job! I think you better get a pillow for your chair...cause you are going to be sitting at your sewing machine for quite a while! lol.

    Good luck with your sewing!

I agree with Woodsy....those are cute! And you'll need that pillow for your chair :-) Keep sewing, Sienna. I wish I had more talent (big sigh), but I don't. You've been blessed with such talent; I hope you always enjoy it.

A pile of fabric and a pile of summer patterns for DGD's(halters, skorts, per their requests). The pile of my DH's shirts always seems to be on the bottom. The sleeves have shrunk and he would like them cut off so he can wear them for summer shirts. Maybe I'll get to them before fall ;D
