My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
Yes! That was my first machine (still have it!); received from my parents for college graduation. Take it to a sewing machine repair shop and get a good tune-up for it. Then she'll be good to go. I think it's great she wants to learn to sew. I learned on my mom's Singer 15-91 when I was thirteen. And the patterns are so much easier now.
I just googled the machine and it looks like a great little machine and just what you are looking for. There was also a free download of threading, and a cleaning and oiling page (also free). If you didn't get a manual then there seems to be alot of things you can find out right on the web by doing a google. I say for the price go for it and don't look back - hope it runs for you. Budster
Went back to ts and took a closer look - it was a mess - filthy, actual clumps of dirt encrusted on the wheel and everywhere. I want one that someone loved and took care of, looking like this, I put it back. Thanks for all your help anyway. I will keep looking.
I probably would have gambled the $4.00 on it and cleanned it up. When my M-in-L moved this year I got her Mother's 237 which had been in a garage 30 years. It and the case had some minor rust spots and gunk, but Mother and I got it running. 237's are work horse machines. We've also bought some awful looking machines for parts.
Also the original owner may have loved and cared for the machine and the child who knows nothing about sewing that's had it in a garage for 30 yrs, may be the one that got it all grimed up. Good Luck on your search, Susan
