Modifying a pattern

I'm going to need to make a few vintage blouses, for a play set in the 1800's. Looking all over the pattern books (and sewingpatterns.com), I can't find a blouse pattern of the sort I need. However, I did find dress patterns with the "correct" bodice.

Would I need to modify a bodice to change it into a blouse, other than a hem???? If so, what changes need to be made?

Make it longer. Long enough to stay tucked into a skirt.

Yes make it longer, and how about are you wanting it to button up the front, or did you find the dress pattern which already does this. If it doesn't, you'd need extra inches to make a lap, and a facing.

The back zips up. My thoughts, however, were to eliminate the zipper and go for Velcro (easier for costuming, as it can be a fast change if needed). So I'd need to include some extra fabric for the tab for Velcro, do you think?
