Good thoughts and prayers needed

I know that this works and am asking if you all can say a few prayers for my Dad. He was released from hospital on Christmas Eve but had to be rushed back last night. I spent a entire sleepless night in the ER listening to him gasp for breath. The staff there is totally incompetent and I had to suction him. It was just awful. He is still there in ER as there isn't any beds available. I am going back soon. Please send me strength as not to lose my temper on that staff. I am usually very understanding because I am a nurse, but I have a real issue with the care he has gotten lately. I expect them to care for him as I would care for a patient. I am just not seeing any concern or compassion, let alone any professionalism. It's so sad.

Oh, sorry especially with you being a nurse!! Hope he gets better care in a room.

Oh, I am so sad to hear this. I'm with Rosie, let them know how you feel. I imagine they are quite over run right now with a room being unavailable, but that's no excuse.
I'll be praying for you and your dad.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad Lori! It has to be very frustrating, as a nurse, to see the care they are giving him. Maybe, if they know you are a nurse, this is why they are slacking off caring for your dad, they figure you can handle it and they can concentrate on the other patients that are there. Hopefully, a bed will become available soon and he will get better care.

Thanks so much for the good vibes.. I think they worked. I was so stressed when I wrote that, having flashbacks from 2 years ago when my Mother passed. I was the only one ( out of 8 kids) to be there!
It's so different when it's your own family, and being a nurse sometimes makes it worse. ( so much is expected.. hey , I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV!!)
He was finally moved to a room,He is right next to the Nurses Station. I am glad he is not miles away. He is breathing a bit better, but he is 87 with multiple problems.
I can't even begin to tell of the horrors in that ER. ( once, he spent 5 days there!)
I'll go over later this morning and get to speak with the patient rep. It's always worse over a holiday or weekend. ( You can only get sick Monday through Friday)

Lori, my prayers are for you, your dad and his care takers.
I too was horrified with healthcare over the past few years when my parents were in the hospital (different times, different reasons). It doesn't seem to matter where the hospital is; the stories are the same. My neighbor's wife recently had brain surgery in Pittsburgh, she was in intensive care and he had to change bandges, change bed sheets, etc. The scariest thought is what healthcare will be for us - the baby boomer generation. It is so bad and indifferent.
