I looked at the picture before reading the full post and I was trying to figure out where the lesson to learn was!
It's a very striking beautiful interesting colorful window!! Sorry about the wooden post thingy...the china looks fun, were you able to salvage most of it??

I think the window looks great and its kind of fun to find the "hexagony things". Its like "find Waldo" ot something like that. I found 6 of them.

I like the window but I know exactly what you mean about losing the pattern in the busy-ness of the background. When it's not what you wanted, it's a mistake - a bright funky window, but still a mistake.

OH DIY!..The colorful window is SO GREAT! So outside my comfort zone. Mistake or not, it's great. I'm glad you
can salvage the china from he post. I used that construction adhesive too, with heart breaking results.
Kinda scary thinking about what construction workers are using it for!

Well it might not have turned out what you thought it would be but IMHO it CERTAINLY is NOT a mistake. This is one of the most beautiful GOG's I have ever seen. I love the bright colors. Your grout lines are beautiful and so even. The color placement is wonderful. There is exciting movement in the overall look. And listen to me like I know what I am talking about. NOT Hehehe But honestly I LOVE this window. I agree that find the hexagon is interesting too. I did the same thing and spent time looking just for them.

I think this window sould certainly have a place of honor in your life. NOT A MISTAKE!!

I am sorry about the post. Lovely shards. Hope most can be saved. Maybe using that gule was a mistake. I shopped at Home Depot and was silly enough to ask a question and sales person told me all about this glue I was looking at while I was reading the lable. Said oh yes it would be fine to use. Right on the lable it said NOT to use for mirror. Or outdoor or something I do not remember now. Now I never ask I just keep reading lables. Sort of sad like Hazie said when they are using this stuff in construction.

Thank you all so much! I really wasn't trying to get compliments cause I really am disappointed in how I didn't see how busy it was becoming because I never plan anything. But you pointed out something I hadn't seen...love that hidden, find Waldo, MIA pattern idea. I think I'll look at it differently from now on. Thanks for your encouragement!
I salvaged about 90% of the china using a hammer and screwdriver to break it out of the grout. Since it was so weak, it was really quick. I bought a terra cotta chimney liner and will use either thinset or GE11 to do my next address marker. Now on to posts here for inspiration and ideas.....

Oh, bianchi, you got me interested. I didn't know how many "Waldos" were in the GOG - there's 9. I had to go find them in the real window cause they weren't that apparent in the picture!

DIY, Popping back in to tell you I just had to show your window to my hubby. Now he is a very sweet man that could care less about mosaic. OK just Setting the scene. I turned my computer so he could see your window and he said OH That is BEAUTIFUL!!! This is from some one that could care less about mosaics. This is saying BUNCHES about your window. I hardly get any comments like that from him.

There are 8?? OK Back to see if I can find the other two. LOL

I would've never thought that was a mistake. It reminds me of a windy stormy day with the hexagons flying about in the wind!! Very colorful.

I swear I must be dense or something...so the post was rotting and you had to chip the tile off or was the glue failing so you chipped the tile off?? Im thinking you ment the glue but wasnt sure...Im glad you can salvage all those pretty pieces though!!

OH Hahahah I FOUND them!!!! But I am not telling where they are. Clue look for the centers. This is GREAT!!!

Girlie, this forum can ALWAYS make you re-think what we call mistakes. I have experience in looking at my stuff in different eyes because of you wonderful artists. Congratulations on creating a beautiful piece of art.

Never got back to thanking all of you for your kind comments. And, shades, that was so sweet of you to show your husband and so kind of him to compliment my work. It couldn't have come at a better time...I was feeling very underappreciated, if not downright incompetent, by my kids.

LOL DIY, My hubby was asking what I was oohing and aahing about so I showed him. See I kept turning my laptop this way and that trying to find the missing shapes. I just had to tell you because for him to say something is pretty is not a common thing. I usually get a shrug.

I do hope you are feeling better about your window and I have spent lots of time trying to think of a style name for this. I think there is a quilt pattern called Eye Spy. Not sure if it is the same idea as your window.

I think you need to do more of these. Remember many years ago the pictures you had to look at so hard to see the REAL pattern in them. Then once you did see it it would always pop at you. Can't remember the names of them either.

So keep on doing!! I have so much other work ahead of me right now I can not take the time I want to mosaic. Hoping by the end of the week I will be in better shape for some free time. So many GOOD ideas come up here.
