I found a SG store!!!

Right here in town! I realize that all the 'artsy' people hang out at the League of NH Craftsmen, but didn't realize how artsy-fartsy this town really is! (I just work here.)

I googled it, and called the number EXPECTING that (as is often the case) google has old information, and the store is long-gone.

NOT the case! This store has been in downtown for 15 years, and recently moved to a 'brighter' storefront, and has everything, INCLUDING 6-week classes for $45!!!!

I am SO all over this!

I came away with $10 of scrap glass, and a new (slightly easier) idea for my exchange project (the other one was going to involve learning to cut way-tiny "shapes" of glass...I haven't even CUT a single piece of glass yet!) So this might work better...depending on how the practice goes with the scrap. Never know, maybe I'll end up going back to the original plan...

How fun! Another shopping stomping ground!! You might have to get a 2nd job to support the passion of mosaicing/stained glass!!

Think they'll let me stay late to help clean up after classes in exchange for scraps?

I took a stained glass class, and all the other students gave me their scraps!! Of course, there were buckets full from the different classes that the owner/teacher was selling by the pound or by the box!!

I posted on craigslist that I wanted scraps and a lady dropped them off at my doorstep with an envelop to pay her later :) Got about 3 boxes worth! joy! I live about 3 blocks away from a SG store and am there every weekend pretty much harassing them about when they will get more scraps hehe. They are cool though they let me pick and choose scraps to make boxes they will sell me for cheap!

You are so lucky! We don't have any kind of SG or even decent craft store here! I got a line on a local woman who may or may not still sell some glass. Otherwise, it's ordering off the net for now...

Yes you are lucky, it will be such a great help to you to be able get classes and info from them not to mention the wonderful glass!!! ..my store is about 35 minutes away. Which in itself isnt that far but sometimes with traffic it takes double. The other one is about 45 minutes away and its a warehouse...man I love that one. Dont get to go to either of them enough though. Neither store sells there scrap for cheap. Oh to be so lucky....I even went on freecycle and got nothing!!! Oh well, I havent checked craigslist.

chickee...where's the 2nd one from you? I think you told me one time that either of them were better than the one near me...
at the one near me, they have the grab bags of 5# for $10...guess that's not so bad. I haven't been back since I got that bunch of glass off of craig's list.
