ah ha.... soooo when one cuts this small, it is preferable to choose a teeny tiny substrate so you can fill it up faster... I have NEVER nipped anything this small - it's amazing. my little catch jug is filling with frit... amazing

while I'm at it, let me share another bit o pondering...
why are the nippers THIS big anyway? I mean, its glass, it breaks pretty easily sooo ??? why are the nippers 7" long and a 1b of dropped forged steel... is that necessary? I beginning to contemplate mounting these wheels on a small pair of pliers and adding a spring. They really should be able to make these in at least a human womans hand size right with a mini pair for swap balls

Hey - I've never been a procrastinator - at least not in mosaics anyway.

In fact, I lean the other way and get compulsive about things I enjoy working on - to the point that no meals get made and the house is a mess and everything suffers.

I know I have a huge bathroom project ahead of me so I wanted to get the ball done and not disappoint anyone when mailing time comes. We're leaving town for a few days and can't really do anything with the bathroom until we get back - so I had down time to work on the ball.

It was fun and I hope whoever gets it likes it. If not, send it back!!

Speaking of balls, what all kinds have you used to mosaic? I have used baseballs, softballs, tennis balls, wiffle balls, golf balls, super balls (the kind you get out of a gumball machine), those plastic balls that are in those kids jumping toys. Tennis balls I paint first to smooth down the fur!

You guys are too funny. I'm working on a birdhouse for my mom that is using tiny pieces and I am nipping them inside a bowl so they stay on the table. I was going to agree to participate in the swap, but after working on this birdhouse, not sure I could torture myself so soon after finishing this project....LOL. Oddly enough, I purchased a pair of balls a couple of weeks ago (before the exchange was announced), so I could still participate if I get up the nerve. You all are so talented that it can be intimidating. Can't wait to see everyones balls and hear the funny stories that are sure to come out of all this.

cindiloo, I'm right there with you, haven't gotten an idea I want to go with yet. I've never done a ball before, I'm scared to start! Well, I did do a BB once, hated it. Ugliest thing I've ever seen. I let the weeds grow over it in the garden so no one will see it. That's why I never posted a picture of it.

I'll be third on the clueless list. I had a stroke of brilliance yesterday on what I wanted to do, but I can't make it work in glass. I could do it with clay, but since I don't have clay that's an issue. Now I'm back to square one with a styrofoam ball quietly taunting me.

I picked up a few 4" Christmas balls at Hob Lob coz I didn't think I could manage the teeny tiny pieces for anything smaller. After looking over the 4", tho, I think I could go down to 3" or (maybe) 2" and still have something you can recognize! Still think I'll stick with the 4", tho, coz I FINALLY have a glimmer of an idea for mine!!
