Good job witht the saw! Are you planning any more projects using it? I still have only really used mine that one time to really cut something out! It mostly gets used to cut small things apart! LOL I guess I have too many crafts that I do or something because the woodworking didn't catch on. I would rather just paint and skip that part!

Leslie I do plan on doing some more projects with the saw if Luvs will keep coaching me on it. ha She may get sick of all my questions before I become proficient at it. I thought it was kind of fun and I've wanted that saw forever. I want to one day start making some furniture like pie safes and things so I'd better go ahead and learn how to use these power tools. :) I don't know how much of it I'll do in the colder weather months cause DH still hasn't finished his garage and I had to do this cutting out on the back porch! ha I'll keep at it though. I haven't cut much lately, but I could cut much faster than Bill could when we were doing shows. We would have a stack of the same things, and I would finish mine first! LOL We finally hired a friend to help with the sanding-He couldn't cut worth a flip! SLOOOOOW. The only thing I could never do-and still can't-is adjust the belt on the 6x48 belt sander. I hate not being able to do that! I also don't like the table saw. I use the radial arm saw or the chop saw.
Keep cutting, Anj!!!!! You are ambitious to want to do furniture pieces.
Bill did not always want to cut the 'special things' I wanted.......He would say "we have enough, without adding something new....." I always got up first, and would cut that myself and have it sanded and ready to go before he got out of bed.

Nona, I don't like the table saw either--and we have a big one DH bought back in the days when we were installing wood paneling. It is just so big, so loud, and so scary. I love the chop saw. So easy to cut a straight edge on a piece of scrap wood or to cut angles for a picture frame. But my fav is my scroll saws. They allow me to cut out whatever shape I want. I need a new sander, only the belt works now, not the round part that I like to use for flat things. The nice thing with my newest saw is that it cuts so smooth, most things don't need much sanding. I waited allot of years before I finally bought it. Kept my old scroll saw too--use one for thin wood and the other for regular--saves having to change blades so much. LOL

I don't try to cut fast, I do concentrate on safety. Keep those fingers a safe distance away at all times--and just let the saw blade do the work. I think sometimes people push too hard instead of letting the blade do it's thing--that just causes more broken blades. Don't you think women who have used a sewing machine catch on to using the saw faster? Already experienced at turning the material to follow the line.

Anj is going to love drawing her pattern outline on, then going to her saw and cutting it out. And once you get going , you find that you love the smell of the wood. I still walk over to that section when in Lowe's or Home Depot just because I love the smell. (I know I'm sorta crazy!) She will be cutting out so many cows and other pretties that her DH will be yelling "Stop, stop!" LOL
