Very pretty Bianchi,I wasn't sure thinset would hold to wood like that..Years ago I covered wooden hearts that had been painted and everything fell off .I guess I did not sand the paint well enough.Glad to know you can do this.Thanks Slow and very pretty cross Bianchi...wish we had a romancing the stone!!!

Great job. I've been using thin set a bit , I really like it too. Haven't used it for grouting also though,

can anyone tell me if you can use thinset on glass? do you need to rough it up? or is it even possible?

I use thinset on glass all the time w/o any kind of treatment, and have had no problems.

From the looks of that cross, it's time for me to make the jump to thinset. Looks great!!

really? Cool (on the thinset/glass question). I never would have thought it would work. For whatever reason, I'm hung up on "cement-to-cement-or-other-porous-surface" and have the E6k on hand for non-porous. Just bought me some Weldbond the other day, and a toobie of 527 to try out.

Thinset is obviously the cheapest, so will def try it when I get to a GOG project. Thanks!

Question for the experts: How much time do you have to work with the thinset? I bought a bird bath and the base is a seahorse. I want to do it up in some iridescent glass, but should I have all the pieces cut first? Do you butter each piece or put a bed of thinset down and push them into it? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Bianchi, that rose is a perfect accent on your pretty cross. I love the way you finished it.

ANDREA: I put a bed down and lay the pieces on and give them a gently tap. I mix up about a cup/half at a time. You have enough time to work w/it even if you cut as you go, but, of course, prior cutting helps to lay your design out for ideas b/f gluing.
