Backsplash tessarae...broke like a dream!

Check this out! It was a square cake(?) plate that I got for 2 dollars. I thought, How cute is that for focals for a kitchen backsplash?! I got it before Christmas, tonight just felt like breaking something. I am SO PLEASED with how it broke. Except for getting a little dicey in the middle (and I can piece it if I want) I didn't lose anything important. I am getting inspired to get going on this backsplash!

After the first break, which I scored then used the Leps:

It's perfect for focals for my basically red and green kitchen. Here's where I want the backsplash:

And yes, I am blessed with that beautiful view out my kitchen window. That was early morning back in the spring. That's a big redbud tree in bloom that makes it look like fall.

You all keep doing these colorful backsplashes, and I keep thinking, "Gee, I wonder if I can pull the tile and Indiana Dunes rocks off of mine and replace them with smashed plates ..."

Should be a beautiful backsplash and wow what a view.

It's such a great feeling when it breaks just right! That plate was crying out to be a kitchen backsplash focal for sure!
Looking forward to seeing your work. Your view is to die for!

Good going, I am anxious to see it also. Your window above your counter is wonderful. I bet it makes you happy all the time to have such a wonderful view? I base my landscaping in the back on my view from the kitchen window. If I am adding something, I have to go inside to see how it looks from there. LOL I just want it to be right from the line of sight where I normally am if inside.
I really like the tile you nipped. It broke great. What other tiles are you going to use? I can't wait to see it all finished. I am very proud of you. I am sure it will be beautiful.
