I Broke More Stuff! (ad a question)

Well, I had to go the TS today to look for some more color to add to my design. Bought some plates and couldnt wait to get dinner over so I could break em. Heres pics:

Ok, so heres my question-If I am just cutting up plates for the border, how do you do it to get the most pieces? And if you just want the flat part, but not as a focal or whole piece how do you do it?

I am cutting into halves and then quarters and then strips which I nip into squares. If I cut strips, I can pretty easily nip away the footer and be left with the border peces. Is there a better way?

Nicethyme did a tutorial on plates..maybe we can get her to link it to here. I havent cut many so I am absolutely no help...but I like the green ones you've got today they are great!!!!

I've been paying with plates a lot lately and I'm still trying to figure it all out....I'm glad you showed picture of cutting in strips...that never occured to me and that looks easier than cutting around and hoping for the best!
