Being that you're sitting on it, you definately want some rebar in it. This should help you.

Well thanks everyone! I just hope the weather holds out. Last night, again, was in the 30's. Winter's come early here.

Cacbeary, that video is GREAT!! Thanks for sending me that. But I really don't think I need to shove rebar in the base. It's a very solid piece and has been sitting outside for the past 5 years without a bit of damage. I will definitely use rebar to attach the backs and arms.

Yes, Bianchi, the bricks are cemented down. I wouldn't do it any other way. I'm not very good at leveling land. ;-)

Now if it will just warm up a bit outside - still in the 40's and that's kinda cold.

And I promise to take many, many pics. I'm a pic fiend so I won't miss taking a pic of any of the steps.

I asked questions in Rianna's class about this. She uses the metal lath doubled and forms her benches without the styrofoam. She says they will hold a 300#man. I would think that since you already have the foam base, you could take the metal stucco galvanized lath and cover it then use some of the metal to do some rolled arms and back. The concrete will then adhere to the metal and not go anywhere.Virginia Gardner,(do a google search) has done a loveseat on stryo. She shows step by step pictures. It is a real beauty and inspiration. I may try to do one without the styro and use just the metal now that I am so inspired by Rianna's workshop. Good luck.

Wonderful shape for your benches, CAIT. I agree w/FLAG, of course, cuz of the durability of Riana's work, and I don't know a thing about working w/foam. This w/be a wonderful addition to your already fabulous gardens.
