There's enough tess on this to classify it a mixed media mosaic, so there!
Made the sculpture from lath, then highly textured it w/mortar using a small pallet knife. Painted w/acrylics and stuck on a few pieces of tess - the bracelet, upper yellow cross and in the niche. This piece was to try to emulate the style/technique of Yvan Genest, an internationally known artist who taught at the Hacienda the following week ours ended. Since I was staying a day extra, he gave me a four-hr. demo on his technique. Needless to say, I bought the painting. If interested one can find his website on the net. Yvan Geneset
