For some reason, these pictures are easier for me to see than others....I had thought that in the first picture that the lines were seed beads and then I couldn't figure out why they looked so dull in the last picture! Doh!

And now a Newbie question -----
You are all using something other than nippers to make such clean lines and cuts (obviously) so whats the first (most inexpensive) tool I should buy to start doing something other than smashing my glass to bits?

Thank you everyone. I am trying to get more exact with my work. I wish I could frame it, but having no tools, I am just putting a coat of thinset around the sides and painting it. I used to just use a diamond pad to sand my pieces. I then found the "grinder" In order to make your pieces fit perfect and to make it look better, get a grinder, it really doesn't matter if it is the least expensive as long as you keep it clean and keep water and grinder coolant in it. Also, keep quite a few medium and fine bits on hand. I like the twofers they sell at delphi glass.

Astara, by what you wrote - "smashing my glass to bits", I assume you don't even have nippers. Why not buy the pistol grip scoring tool, the breaker pliers and a wheeled nipper -the Lepponits are the most popular. If you're using a hammer, your work is still very beautiful, but I highly recommend the three tools I listed. These are the second level tools after hammer for the beginner. You can get pretty exact w/your cuts by scoring and breaking.

Awesome awesome. I really like it. To funny though i was thinking of palm leaves the other day and thought how cool would it be to make just a mosaic of them. And bang you got to it before me. I love the colors.

Yeah, GRETCH - in thinking about my next project, which seems so far in the future, I'm already wondering how I'm going to make the palm leaves in my PV sunset. W/have to pull the ring saw out I suppose for those. This is truly a wonderful piece, SIRIUS, and CALAM's remark about quality is right on. Wish I had that kind of patience to put out such quality work.

sirius his is fantastic,wonderful I love it!!!What are you putting your glass on for a backer?If you use something 1/2'or 3/4" which is what I like best you do the edges in glass and you don't need a frame at all and looks really finished.love your choice of colors as always.I might have a buyer for you if you have a price in mind let me know.You can e-mail me if you want..

Thanks Annie, I'll let you know. My problem is that I don't even know how to price the thing. It took 24 hours instead of the usual 6-8 hours. I think I might try finishing the edges in glass, that would look good.

No, I think it is the light making it look like 2 grout colors. I had this board and couldn't think of what to put on it, so I just starting drawing the leaves, I wanted to try just a sort of repeating pattern of something.

I keep coming back too - it's so - well - perfect, like all your work. What impresses me is that you draw your design and STICK TO IT. It wouldn't do me any good to draw something cuz I'd never follow it. BEAUTIFUL work.
