Ohhhhhhhhhhhh That is beautiful.......I am lousy at pricing...which to me, is worse than grouting!!! But you can't give it away, that's for sure! I'm sure some of the other gals will be able to help out....but I just wanted to say how beautiful it is....

That is just gorgeous. What an art piece. I don't think I could sell it and I sure wouldn't know what to ask. It's really a one of a kind.

I'm thinking of selling stuff for what it would cost to buy the materials again and $10/hr labor, even that is cheap but hey, I wanna try and sell some stuff!

I think it all depends on where you live. If you live in a metropolitan area, around $300. If you live in the middle of nowhere, around $100. If you live in the middle of nowhere but it's a touristy type town, then around $350. Just my 2 cents LOL!

Truly, it is really exquisite and it will surely find a buyer. I'm not sure of the size and haven't priced a handmade piece like this, but I'd think $165.00-$225.00. Please let us know!

If it was here in Oz you could probably sell it for $500. I went to a graden center and they had a mosaiced frog like what Jane did and they had a $299 price tag on it.
It really is gorgeous and I'd try for at least $200.

I've re-thought this and I agree. I'm one of the people referred to above as living "in the middle of no where", so what do I know about pricing? (smile) I've looked at this beautiful piece again, agree with others, and think in an good shop in a metropolitan area you could get these higher prices. It's just wonderful.

I'm in the middle of a place called "sorta nowhere," but there's an artsy city about 30 miles from here. I'd venture to guess that THERE you'd probably get ~300 for it. HERE in one of our local nowhere shops, or at the craft fair, it might get half that if lucky, BUT...

there is a specialty gal in the middle of the next town over (a suburb of 'sorta nowhere') and even though it's only a 'house-type' shop, she has some great ecclectic stuff in there, and it'd probably get the $300.

It's all relative...I say that because even the definition of "craft fair" is subjective. We have a 'travelling' craft fair in several summer-time towns around here, and it's a bigger one, with 'fancier' crafts than those you'd find at our Christmas fair at the school, with many GREAT artists/various works. You'd definitely fit in there...and I think wouldn't have a problem with that $300 price in THAT arena.

It's all about location, location, location :)

I used to commission my art in a trendy part of town, "The Old Market." I have the price tag of $350 on this. So, you all were close. The hard part is that I have spent over 50 hours making this. I began doing mosaics thinking, "Well, what else do I have to do with my time?" But, then, once I got into selling things, especially at the Farmer's Market, people would look at my price tags and say "ouch!" And, that really hurt, because I put alot of time into this project. I always wanted to ask them what they thought their time was worth!!!

I don't know..it's really hard to let this go for $6 an hour. :o(

Something like this --- IMHO as a crafter - SHOULD go for $500 . I live in a cheap city . If I marked it $25 - someone would ask me if I'd take $10. Could you do a consignment in a better area ?

I couldn't let that go , to be honest .... it's a work of art . It's a tribute to your talent. What a dillemma !

I decorate for people all the time...don't want to act like
any of the people who pay me....... I search out things for clients all the time. I saw something close in a florist's
showroom. She wanted $400. Her take was $150.

Well, my horse trainer saw this. She wants to trade me lessons for this birdbath. The only problem is that she wants to trade me $35 an hour horse lessons for $6 an hour artwork (meaning she thinks her time has more value).

I'm really torn on this....

No deal to the trainer ,if your trading time for time then 35.00 an hr even as far as I'm concerned ,If not she doesn't know what mosaics are....

How many hours is she going to give you?
