Mirror

Latest mirror project. It's just a 10" square. I like these little ones!

I've gotten stuck in a rut doing abstract things now, which I think is really funny because it took me sooo long to make the first one!

Hey, girlie - stay in what you call a rut cuz this little number is just wonderful. Familiar looking keys - they surely add to this piece. Didja notice on one of them "Brasil"? I LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOOOVE the way you made the irridescent glass swirl bottom left. Hadn't thought to turn the rectangles that way to make a more definite statement - and that red corner - well - the whole thing is a real keeper. Also that's a cute detail w/the orange beads on right side of mirror. Are those pony beads? Notice you used the hole as an accent, and I always tried to hide it. Thanks for that idea. That is just BEAUTIFUL. Your work just gets better and better. Oh, BTW - also saw your other mirror on "Make Mine Mosaics" this morning. You l'il artist, you!

I give up --- what kind of drugs do you take to make you go wild like that ???? LOL I get so mad at myself because it seems so easy to do ... and I can't do it !!!
I just bought a bunch of 10" squares of wood ,too. I tried doing the abstracts and it drove me out of my mind !!! LOL

I guess I'll just have to keep admiring yours ~~ ;)

Don't think about it too much. Smack something down, and work around it. Try it!!

That is so beautiful! I've never done anything abstract, just can't seem to wrap my brain around it, but I really like your advice! That's the best explanation for abstract I've ever heard.....I think I can DO that! Thanks!

Awesome i so love your work. Another great one.

Yep, BAMA, you nailed it - that's the way I begin an abstract too. Just plunk something down and run w/that awhile, then find a convenient spot for the next found object, and run w/that awhile. Of course, there are some that think it's busy, but if it makes me happy, then ..... I'm still finding little treasures in this mirror. LOVE the little triangles around the blue gems, making a stylized flower.

Busy is what I like about your style, Slow!
It makes it impossible to "glance over". The viewer is intrigued because there is so much going on. Different patterns, materials, textures.
It's like one of those seek-n-find pictures you'd see in a kids book.
