Craigs List

How many of you have sold your old kitchen (cabinet, appliances, countertops, etc)? If yes, what items did you sell?

I can't imagine someone buying my old cabinets or laminated countertop, but if I can, would love to.

Thanks.

People will buy just about anything on CL, especially if the price is right. Go for it! You never know who is putting together a craft room, or garage storage, etc. These things come in handy for those projects.

Someone drove 3 hours to buy our cabinets, so have no concerns about putting them on CL. Doesn't cost anything, might as well try.

We didn't sell ours, but offered them for free on Craiglist. We were happy to not put them in the landfill & the people who came to get them were happy to take them for their cottage. They took cabinets, laminate counters, sink & taps.

Habitat for Humanity Re-Store will also take most cabinets if you would rather have a tax deduction.

    You can also try Freecycle.

We sold everything in our old kitchen on Craigslist. Cabs, counters and appliances.

I purchased a ten year old house, and as part of the remodel I tore out the entire kitchen - even some walls.

I sold the kitchen (on CL or on the local TV station's website classifieds which in this city has a big following) as follows:

    - three-sided island (like an "L" with 45-degree)
    - pantry cabinet section with paneled refregerator
    - range cabinet section with range and microwave

The cabinets were nice clear stained knotty alder with full pullouts (not soft close). The granite was in really nice shape. The appliances were kind of nasty and dirty I thought (and 10 years old), but the paneling matched.

I received a little over $3,000 from someone that drove an hour away with a large trailer.

I also sold a beautiful French door, including the wall framing, for $300.

CL is great for selling stuff you don't value, as others will value it!

We sold our entire kitchen, sink and counters included, for $100. The people helped with the removal and hauled them away the same day. It was a 20 year old builder-grade kitchen, so I was happy to get any money at all for it. Really, I was most happy that someone else took it away and we didn't have to deal with hauling it ourselves (we DIYed our kitchen, no contractor to help!).

However, I wasn't able to sell the old appliances. No takers! I ended up giving them all away on freecycle, which was nice. Everyone who got one was very appreciative and excited.

My appliances were only 5 years old. Had so many offers. Sold stove, s x s refrigerator, DW, and OTR micro to a young couple buying their first home.

I sold all my appliances. I was going to sell my cabinets too, but I had to tell the buyer we changed our mind. (I warned him first we were on the fence!) They'll make much prettier storage in the basement than what we have.

We also have a place called Construction Junction that will come and take stuff away that they can resell. I would have done that if I hadn't gotten results on Craigslist.

People will buy ANYTHING if the price is right. Don't curse them buy pricing too high, that's the key.

We are keeping the cabinets but sold everything else on CL. Price is the key.

We even sold the old fridge with a broken ice maker for $80 on CL. Their fridge quit and they didn't want to be rushed into a $3K decision. Very smart on their part and we were glad we helped someone out.

Great - thanks everyone! Good to hear that alot of people were able to make a few $'s selling their old stuff...and if not, there are charities that will take it for some people in need.

The 6 year old white ceramic cooktop I bought (for a temporary replacement in my old kitchen) from a neighbor but never installed - sold for more on CL than I bought it for initially. The guy who bought it was going to use it for a house he rented out. So, you never know!

I've also sold at least 3 pieces of furniture on CL. I"ve been so lucky -everyone I've sold to has been extremely nice and normal.
