Very pretty clock! I really like the color of the green around the face....what color grout are you planning to use?

    Pat

Annie, thanks for the link to the mermaids. I hadn't seen those. And yes to other questions. Mermaid at heart, live across from the beach(my dream) I think my parents really found me on the beach and took me home. LOL

Thanks Gypsy and Curbdiver. I haven't decided what color grout. Any suggestions?

You ought to be able to just copy and past into another tab to see those mermaid mosaics. Or maybe that wasn't the question. I must be suffering from the glue fumes...

Here is a link that might be useful: mermaid mosaics

I really like this! I have a clock my DS gave me years ago, shaped kinda like this. hmmmmm...

Oh, Mermaid! That's a very pretty clock! Are you a newby to us or to mosaicing? You look like you've been doing that a long time! Are you cutting your own glass for the blue? Those could be starfish in there.

It's beautiful...funny how everything looks like it needs to be mosaiced after a while

Oooo, that's sooo pretty! I like how you've mixed it all up with glass, tiles, etc...
Oh and I just LOVE that yellow on the side!!

I think someone has been bitten by the QUEEN mosaicing bug. Way to go, girlie. You got the disease and you got it real good. Keep it up. Your clock is delightful. Where did you get those cute little fish across the top. I THINK they're fish. Can't quite make out what the tile above says. Just darlin' - the whole thing. I'll bet you find lots of interesting stuff to use from the beach on your projects.

Thanks all. Daisy, Yes, I am a newby to mosaics plus gardenweb. And am trying to cut my own tile as much as I can. The blue tile i bought cut in small squares and then i cut them myself from there.

And SLow, and Shrty I am HOOKED completely. Ever since I picked out this beautiful Illuminati irridescent tile for our pool bathroom and watched our tile guy put it on with thinset, You can see the tile on the photobucket site.

Yes, they are little fish i bought online at Mosaic Basics . And there is a sea turtle and star fish i bought on ebay The top tile says GOODLIFE, and i used glass letter with some paste on letters i got from walmart this weekend to spell out beach.

IT is great fun to decide as you are working which way to go.

Lady, Cindyloo, Slow, daisy , I so appreciate all of you artists commenting. Thanks. I hope to finish the other side and top today and will post

    it's really pretty! nice work.

i love mosaic on clocks and would love to do one. my mom gave me an old ingraham mantle clock to mosaic - my dad almost had a fit so i just set it aside. it didn't work when they gave it to me, but for some reason it started working on the exact time it had stopped and keeps time. (everybody here is a little freaked out about it).

i just went on a tangent.. sorry!!

I finished the top and other side today and added detail to the front!! It's kinda hard to see the top of the clock laying on its side but that is the last pix.

Now I have to figure out a grout color. Any suggestions??

Well, girlie: That turned out just lovely. AND - look at that tissue box cover. Way to gooooooo. She's on a roll. What's next?

It's WONDERFUL!!! So much to look at with all the different kinds of tiles. Makes it really interesting.
But I'm gonna admit to something... I am TOTALLY anal and can't have tiles touching each other. I saw that you have tiles touching and I think you are so BRAVE to be able to just let the mosaic live the way it wants to. I use a toothpick to move the tiles out of each other's way. Now I feel like I'm psychotic or something. ROFL
As for grout color - I'm a charcoal gray fan so I'm useless if you want something different ;-)

really pretty!!!! i always go for black/dark gray grout because i think they make the colours really stand out.

i hope you post another picture once it's all done.

Cait, I wrote a response last night but puter wasn't having any of it. Really, those tiles were supposed to not touch, but I think a they had a party after i went to bed for the night . LOL.

I am thinking i might have went over the top and got too busy, but dont' feel like tearing it all apart, so will grout with a dark gray or charcoal color that Joy , Cait and a few others suggested. It will be a first ,never used that color before.

oh well there is always another design/new victim to mosaic

LOL SEE!!! You let your tiles live the way they want! There's freedom and randomness in your work... I'm pretty controlling! HA! You're correct about nighttime tile parties. They do have a way of shifting around after you think they're all tucked in safe for the night.

Looking forward to seeing it grouted!!

Ok, here is the finished clock. I mixed a dark charcoal with white grout and got a deep gray color. I think. Boy what a mess, And , it took longer than i thought, still i guess it is okay. Because I managed to rub the grout off both sides of the clock(where there wasn't any tile) I decided to just leave it off. I guess I could paint it but I'm starting to like it. Had to glue a few tiles back on .

I have to learn the art of grouting multiple depths , because it was a real pain!!! Maybe add the gems after I grout??

Ye Grout genius's please tell me how you do this!!!!!!

Oh that came out FAB! love the grout color - everything just pops! great job

Thanks NT. DH just hung on our kitchen wall underneath a dolphin plaque. I will take another pix and show it in it's home setting.

Final pix of my clock hanging beneath the dolphins.. Hmm do you all think I should mosaic the dolphins

    {{!gwi}}

It really isn't crooked, just the photographer. LOL

That's absolutly perfect right there! I'm so happy it turned out so nice for you. PJ
