Window treatment input--style?

Hi all. I have a thread on the decorating forum. I thought you TKO people might have some thoughts too. I want to do a window treatment for the three windows over my sink. I like adding a bit of fabric for color and personality. The windows are "boxed" in. I think I have decided to do the treatment outside this box so that I don't cover too much window and b/c it will be easier to mount. Now I would love suggestions on style, etc. Fabric has diamonds that are about 13 inches. I know I need to be able to see a full diamond. Any other thoughts?

I think I have about 5-6 inches under crown. I will likely mount the valance there. I don't want it to hang down too far, but "far enough." I was thinking of having longer pieces on the side. Thanks!

Here are some pictures:

I'm leaning towards mounting the treatment on the outside of the window's casing also. If you've got about 5-6" between the bottom of the crown moulding and the top edge of the window casing, then you should have plenty of space to hang a treatment with that size pattern repeat that doesn't compromise the integrity of the pattern or take away from your view. The soft look of a valance would look beautiful there.

We have a window in our dining room that is about the width of your kitchen window. I did a cornice instead of a valance, but maybe the measurements I have will give you an idea of how it might work for you. There is only about 3-4" between the crown moulding here and the top of the window casing (the cornice "sits" on top of the casing and is only millimeters from the bottom edge of the moulding). Here's a pic to give you an idea:

Your kitchen is going to be lovely. I love that fabric!

Thanks. I love your fabric too. I have admired it at Calico Corners, I think. Anyway, your picture is very helpful. I appreciate your sharing.

I'm sorry that I don't have any suggestions on style of the window treatment, as I'm not that knowledgeable in that area. I just wanted to comment on how gorgeous that fabric is and how in tune it will be with the style of your kitchen. Great choice!

Redroze, THANK YOU! I was doubting it a bit b/c it has been discontinued (like everything else I have chosen) and the fabric says 1992 on it. I am worried that I am living 17 years in the past. Oh well, when I see these pictures of it and especially with my accent tile, I love it. I hope it comes together.

I hope to meet with my seamstress this week and nail down a style.

Maybe this pic will help ~ this is my DD's treatment. she did a pleated drop on either side..lokks like a few pleats in the main part. The unpleated part allows for the fabric to show it's self off. She opted to add a fringe.
    Hope this helps

OT...but where is your gorgeous tile from??? (Sorry, can't help on window treatment...know nothing about this...but your kitchen looks beautiful)

Conn123, the tile in the picture is Jeffrey Court. It will be an accent (24 of them) behind the range. Thanks for the kind words. I do like everything together when I see it. I hope I like it when it is all up.

Nauset, the picture is VERY helpful. I think that looks great. It also makes me realize that mounting the treatment on the outside of the "box" looks really good. I love her style. I think that is what I am leaning towards! Thanks for sharing.
