Stands for bowling balls are easy to find at your thrift store. Look for metal or wrought iron candle holders.

The boon in candle decorating has created lots of lovely sturdy bowling ball stands. The best ones are either the large candle holders with the slight bowl and spike on top (the spike can be bent off with a pliers) or the holders that originally held a glass in which to place the votive. Once that glass breaks or is lost the holder becomes fair game for a bowling ball. The metal candle holders are pretty well balanced because one doesn't really want something with a FLAME to tip over!!

I went rummaging last week and found a set of two metal stands for $5 - and the smallest one was 2 feet tall!

Back to 12 yards of mulch and dividing hostas.

I'm craving mosaic fix but am really sick and am trying to redo my house while DH is away, gets back wed, carpet guy comes then, building a headboard, mounting it, painting "love sleeps here" above, have never done any of this before, ripped up 3 rooms of carpet, and the only thing keeping me going is checking in here and hanging with my homies!!!! I finally finished glueing my stepping stone last night. I'm wondering how I'm gonna get that GEII haze off the pieces?!?!
I also have 3 chimney liners just waiting on me to make up my mind what I'm gonna do to them. I think it may just be better to dig in and let creativity take its course?
This past week friend of mine offered this yellow globe and stand to me..You know I've gotta take that!

I forgot to add my mermaid patio... uh which I can not find the right thinset any where... I want Mapei adilsilex P10... it's for glass applications in wet conditions...Although Lowes sells some Mapei, they can't get this, I think I need a pool contractor supplier.

Alright, I bit the bullet and did some glass ordering for both the column and the speaker, that should provoke me to work on both and NOT buy anything else TBM until those two thing come into fruition... (will it work) we shall see.

Top of my list is the headboards I'm plugging away on ,got 1 half done ,i am also working on a gazing ball pedestal for auction at mt granddaughters school,will make about 2 or 3 more little things for that...have a buddah head waiting ,3 tables and lot's more...Annie

Another thing you can use for BB stands is lamp bases. Just got one from the TS made out of plaster which has little cherubs and such on it. Asked DH to remove the hardware, then drill a hole in a wooden salad bowl and screw to the top to hold the ball.

The candle holders are great too. That's what I use most of the time, but when you go to the TS just take stuff and turn it upside down and check out the possibilities. Another thing I got as a stand yesterday was a metal fruit basket. The base is great for cradling a BB when the whole thing is turned upside down! :O)

I'm still struggling to see glass for use as totems, I start stacking it in a GW store and get wierd looks! LOL NOW, I'm gonna upend lampbases!!!

My list is so long, I seem to put everything to the back burner as soon as I get a new crazy idea..I actually started a terra cotta pig today. I am using a little bit of the tumbled (in the new tumbler!!!!) china on it.

Mine is a never ending list...these are the things I remember right now.

Working on bÂday present for my sister  mosaicÂd bowling ball and stand  nearing completion.

A big vase kind of thing  thrift store find that I covered in a concrete mixture  itÂs almost 5 feet tall  and is now fully cured and ready to mosaic.

Recently bought some BIG terra cotta pots on sale at Old Time Pottery for a really good price  bought 9 of them  3 each of 3 different sizes. These are to be mosaicÂd for outside and for the lanai.

More bowling balls are lined up and waiting  5 of them.

Two big mushrooms (made from the lightweight resin stuff) Â another JoAnnÂs clearance find.

Several turtles, frogs, ducks, bird, snail, bunny, cat, vases, lamp bases.

Nice - if you want a stand for a BB that you can mosaic...how about concrete blocks...this is a BB that I did that I put on 2 mosaiced concrete blocks...the BB sits very nicely in the opening....

Well, I have a cat I started last fall, (goes in the garden),3 mushrooms , a half-finished birdhouse, a partly finished potato bin,my stepdaughter wants a wall thing of some sort for her bathroom and I have a tissue box I want to do for her.Some stepping stones. AND the big thing I want to do is SOMETHING with this wall in the yard!

Oh, and there's this little watering can ...

It is good to put it in a list!

oh, shrty....that will be a fun wall to do! Can hardly wait to see what you do with it....and can you post a picture of your cat wip? I have a cat I want to mosaic....but am unsure of the face....I think the shards would have to be really small to make this one look right....would love to see what you're doing with yours.

Don't wanna make a list cuz it'd be too overwhelming. Just want to comment on LUNDALU's beautiful concrete block pedestal and BB. Hadn't seen that before, and it's a wonderful way to use those old ugly blocks. That really is a nice garden sculpture.

Giving it a few more days. The new dog yard created a nice corner for the fountain that used to be the middle of a path. And here I was concerned about cutting off the path. Heheheh

I'm going to grout it white, then add what detail I can ( mouth, toes and whatever else) with black paint

Oh wow....thanks Maria!!! That's going to be so cute...I love the "spots"! That's a good idea about adding in some detail with paint....the faces do create a challenge, don't they. Your's actually has more detail than mine does. Thanks for taking the extra pictures...That was sweet of you!!

Almost scares me to DO a list of my TBM plans!! The ones I can think of right off:

2 BB's
watering can that's in the mail
birdhouse lamp
3 baseballs
metal table top (mosaic pieces are already done out of polyclay, just need to get them all together with the table)
3 clay pots for a mosaic tipsy pot totem (got a couple of them glued up, but nothing is grouted or finished)
ceramic vase for a bird/butterfly bath pedestal
2 pair cowboy boots
3 TX shaped stepping stones to go with the 3 already done (confession: did the first three about 5 years ago!!)
toilet tank (broke the corner off it 2 yrs ago, but kept it and the various larger pieces for then-unknown reason!)
toilet (had it in the front yard with a pot of airplane plants in it for 2 yrs - drives DD nuts, DH just sorta ignores it)

That's all that come to mind at the moment, but there's probably several more lurking in hiding that I've forgotten!!

lyndalu, yep I end up spending way too much time at the field these day, 2 DDs on 2 teams - between practises, games, Dh running the concessions, I coach one group, sponser another... I should pitch a tent there! LOL

so I was feeling like I'm losing my hobby time and figured "what the heck" (and secretly enjoyed the idea that I would embarrass Dh) so there I sat nipping plates while dozens of people walk by and ask "why?" LOL

Somebody actually said a 50 cent plate was too expensive to break. ehhhh, she doesn't understand this disease! LOL

Wow, you got plates for .50 ????????? I bet that lady drops a bundle on something you think is stupid.

Yeah, I was wondering how your DH reacted to your "nipping in public"LOL

I was thinking of bringing some to work, but I don't think the PO would let us have sharp objects. Someone would complain **sigh** Hmm..maybe I could grout on my lunch time.......
