I have mosaiced over them. I've used several sizes, take a nipper and nip the edges so they aren't straight - sorta jagged, mosaiced a design on them - mostly hearts cuz I'm a nut for the heart motif -, and w/a gold leaf pen go around the edges, drill a hole in them for hanging w/ a pretty ribbon and they are quite nice.

Forgot to mention that LILYM mortared two together and mosaiced it for a stepping stone. LIL: I hope you don't mind my posting your thread.

Not at all, saved me from going to look for it. I plopped it down in my flower bed and it looks pretty darn good. I've got a couple more here in the house that as soon as I get those closets cleaned out I'm going to do another one.

I hope this weekend to take a picture of a round side table I just finished mosaicing for my mom for mother's day. I also recently did another table before that I will post and would like your opinions, as they are my first major project! I am sure addicted!
BTW - I am finding very inexpensive grout and adhesive at my local Habitat For Humanity RESTORE. I love that store!

Somehow I KNEW that was coming. I've made six - one's at the gallery, three I gave as gifts to friends/family and two I made for the path last fall that I never finished so didn't use. Pics of just the two - didn't take pics of the others. Next one I make I'll take a picture. Here's the deal. Take a nipper, chip out some chunks on the sides so there are no straight edges, use a gold leaf pen to color those edges and a small border on the front of the tile. I drilled a hole in the corner for the ribbon, made the heart-shape - on point - in red mirror glass, and used gold mirror shards to make a spikey design around the heart, sorta copying one I saw in Fassett/Behouth's book. A couple I made for the path last fall and didn't use are just small 5 1/4" piece I THINK I cut w/a wet saw off a large tile. Didn't use on the path so drilled a hole in one to hang but never got around to the other one so it leans. They're rather crude but here we go.
