Scored another saw!!!!

WOW!!! The gals who work at the local Recycle Depot(there is a thrift store there too!) saved me a lapidary saw!!! I helped Klinger score one from there a few months back, and the Gals who work ther didn't even know what it was, but when this one came in they knew what it was AND put it aside for ME!!! It just made my whole day...DH left for Africa this morning and I was feeling down, but this made me do a happy dance!!! I came home to grab my utility trailer and go back to pick this puppy up, so I'll post a pic of it when I get back!!! I paid $40!!!! Yippppeeee!!!!

Wow Jane, what a great find!! I guess I need to find out the names of the thrift store folks and get friendly with them.

What kind of saw is it??

Congrats Jane - wish I knew what the saw does - but a tool is a tool is all I can say.

Oh you little shopper you!! What is a lapidary saw?, same as a wet saw?

Okay, DH is gone so what did I do? Had a Peanut Buster Parfait(Big Icecream sundae!)for dinner!!!LOL! Then I had a BAD Sugar Overdose..YUK!!! I shake my head at me sometimes...!!
These are pics of the set up. It is a saw that can cut 2.5" thick rocks, as far as I know, and then a grinding stone and buffing disk beside that and then another buffer beside that! It has no motor so I need a 1/3hp motor. I'm going to stop by the lapidary shop tomorrow and see into it all. I could make my own geode slices/agates from rocks with this! I was also thinking with the grinding stone and buffing items, I could make my own bevels!!! Who knows what I'll come up with! Oh, the possibilities!!! I was so excited to get it home that it didn't even dawn on me that I can't unload it by myself!!!! ha! Sheesh, Ya can't think of Everything!!! ha! It has a thinner blade than a tile saw, and is supposed to be tougher as it can cut rocks!! Yesterday I met a guy down the road who is selling me rock from this area, that has fossils in it! Leaves, ferns, really cool stuff! That too is costing me $40, for a couple of pickup truck loads!!! Fossils! How cool!

If you live close enough to your neighbors, wait til you see a strong one out and then go try and get the saw out....struggle, sigh, bat your eyelashes, HOPEFULLY, they will come help! OR...just ask 'em. You find the coolest stuff and I know we'll see some amazing works from you soon!!
