Do some of you cut your own glass tiles for mosaic or do you buy them ready cut. It is not difficult to cut your own using a strip cutter, running pliers. a metal ruler or metal yard stick and glass nippers. Even tho the strip cutter will only do a 1 inch strip at best there is a way to cut 1/4 inch strips or even smaller. I use 1/4 inch and abit bigger . I buy glass at alocal shop but when I am in Toronto I love to go to a fabulous shop there. They have everything and my husband hates it when I go there . I have been working with glass about 24 years. I do not have a shop and I dont sell glass but I have sold most of what I have made. I did have an Antique shop and sold stuff there but I hated doing that as people see it as "HOME MADE "and therefore should be cheap. I did far better selling on consigment in someone elses shop. I was born and raised in London England and I love London . One of the finest cites in the world. I often puzzle over what I am doing in Canada . I detest snow. I came to Canada with my first husband and it was the great adventure but he died young leaving me with two daughters. I remarried a Dutchman and have often questioned the reason why I did that . I have broken my left wrist TWICE.The first time is when I learned how to really use a strip cutter as I wanted to do stuff. The second time I broke it I went into a complete panic as I broke it in two places and dislocated it and had to have surgery and was told if it did not heal it would have to be oops I have forgotten the term but it would have been useless as i would not be able to bend it. Not much good when you do Stained glass. It healed but now I am terrified of falling on ice and breaking it again so I hate winter even more. Mind you on both occasions that I broke my wrist it was summer . I might add the second time I had pins in my wrist and something that looked like scaffolding and I still cut strips. I hope I will be of some use to you as I love working with glass. I am no spring chicken bodily but in mind thats a different story. I love technology tho I am so so at it and I still enjoy some of the modern music. I have an mp3 cos my husband does not appreciate modern music ( I am not into rap). I also love gardening and have a very pretty garden that is more english garden than anything else
