Getting that lid off and the inner one was a mystery to me too. I had to take a knife to get the outer lid off, then I took the knife, pried just a little of the inner metal lid out of the rubber seal, then pulled it out. So when you put it back together, the metal inner, surrounded w/the rubber seal, goes in tightly. I've never been able to get the washer back on the lid before putting the little screw knob on, so don't use it. It still seals, and w/use, it w/loosen up. Have fun, Cindy. It's a dilly of a tool. I've decided to let my glass run longer than 30 min, cuz for the bathroom, it's still not as smooth as it should be, so for the toilet, I gotta tumble more. I usually fill mine about half full of glass, maybe 3/4, and cover the glass and a little over w/water. Experiment.

Thanks Slow, It's funny ,my first inclination was to use a knife, but then I thought that couldn't be right, thought there must be something obvious I just wasn't getting. Does it matter about the size of the pieces of glass? I've got a lot of scrap glass I want to use up,

I doubt it - if you can fit it all in there and they still bump around, go for it.

Yeah, what slow said. It's a real mystery the first time LOL I put the washer on just before the screw thingy.That's the easiest thing to go on for me! I still forget the inner metal lid has the rubber around and try and just get the lid out!

I just tumbled a bunch of glass some big, some smaller. Didn't seem to matter that I could tell

Morning!! Yup, I have found that that washer is PERFECT for prying the metal lid up, it's like using a paint can opener on paint! I don't really see any other use for it as the screw nut does not go all the way down the shaft it goes on?!? This tumbler of mine is my faaaaaavvvvv toy !!!!
Today I am starting the dragonfly body!!! Cindy and I hung out together yesterday(I just sucker her into the car and lock the doors!lol!) And we scored some wonderboard! and some nice fushia pink tiles, blue tiles and some admix additive. A Good Day had by all!!!
AND we went to a store where they make tiles and do instalations, was very interesting!!!
Now My question is: Do I buy a tile saw for $100 or a tile blade for my taurus 3 for a bit less??? I've been thinking about shapes...I want to cut slate and such too...maybe both will have to be bought!!! Still cheap when you think my taurus cost me 500 up here. what do you all think???

Oh, good grief, y'all. That's a wonderful price for a wet saw. I learned to clean concrete off old tiles I took off in the bathroom. That stuff was rock solid on there. My HM just held the tiles under the blade and cleaned them good as new tiles. Then he put the end of the tile against the blade to smooth the edges. It cuts cuts/pitchers/bowls/vases etc. in half. That's another of my favs. That's a great price, CALAM. I think I paid about $275 for mine at Lowes. Can't wait to see the dragonfly - how's the flower coming?

Got a pic of your saw?? Maybe buying the plain jane one may not be a good idea......

Cindy, How did your first glass come out? I find the inner rubber seal has loosened as I use it. I pry the lid gently with a screwdriver. I hope it doesn't come too loose. I do like the feel of tumbled glass!

I tumbled it and then just turned it off and went outside to play in the yard. Tommorow am I will take it out and do another batch. I can't wait to use this scrap glass up,
