Silver Line Windows

Has anyone heard anything good or bad about these windows?

Thanks,

Barbara

I gave an honest answer before but it's been deleted. I guess they have issues with an honest opinion. So I'll have to sit back and say nothing. Big Brother doesn't want anyone to know the truth. Kind of sad!

We had these windows growing up in the mid 80's - they were junk! However, to be fair they weren't installed the best by the builder. I notice many builders are using these windows still today on Long Island. I would not buy them

We just had a couple installed in my office about a month ago--they seem fine. The installation seems good too. They are double hung low-e double pane argon gas filled. Energy star qualified.

I just had 10 Silverline Sreies 1200 Dual Glazed Vinyl Double Hung windows installed. No grids, standard (3) 35x54,(3) 36x36, (2) 31x52, (1) 31X36, and (1) 27X27. I was charged $2250 for windows and installation. Was I ripped off?

Hopefully you will get the same deal when you have to replace them.

    Is that good or bad?

Bad! You purchased windows that will not last as long as good windows. You will end up replacing them at some point in time, hopefully you get a good deal the 2nd time.

we had silverline 9500 series windows installed about 4 years ago by a contractor who knew absolutely nothing about quality. they were installed correctly but the windows are a very low quality. very flimsy and some of the sash's already warped. there are a few high quality vinyl window companies out there that are much more energy efficient than the expensive wood windows. unfortunately i found out the hard way. we replaced all of our silverline windows with premium grade vinyl. good news is that our windows are excellent quality. bad news is i paid twice because my idiot contractor used silverline. silverline is sold in all the building supply shops as well as home depot and thats where you get contractors looking for the cheapest products. always do research. one thing i learned is that all vinyl windows are NOT created equal. cheaper vinyl always warps and leak air. higher grade vinyl windows will not. please dont make the same mistake i did.
