We use a 1/8 cup in our FL machine and it does a marvelous job. It also eliminates the odor in the drain/filter system.

Perhaps we don't get food, blood or grass stains on our clothes since we're over 50, but thus far, I'm impressed with Charlie's Soap.

I use the liquid all purpose CS spray to pretreat stains. I would suggest using a little bit more to start - like a slightly heaping scoop & call the company - they are terrific business people-very helpful and will be able to help you with specifics - like what kind of water you have, etc

I use Charlie's Soap as well. I have noticed that it does get my clothes a lot brighter, but sometimes does not do the greatest on stains. I use the Charlie's All Purpose Cleaner as a Stain Remover and that stuff gets almost everything out! The only thing that has stopped it was 3 day old Chocolate Chip Cookie from camping with Grandma and Grandpa.

I got some CS because of feedback at GW too, and it has not worked well for me. My teenage son is a swimmer, and his sweaty/chlorine-soaked clothes just don't get as clean with CS, so I've gone back to Gain...

On really stinky/dirty things I add Oxi Clean also to boost the CS. I've only been using it a week so I can't give a full report yet. I do love that it doesn't leave that harsh smell of imitation fragrance in the clothes.

I love CS, but it does require some pre-treating, usually with an oxy product. I use the CS all-purpose spray with a sprinkle of oxyclean and let sit for a few hours. It always works (so far, I should say).

My rinse water seems cleaner and I didn't re-run the load last night. I also had a stain problem and ruined a shirt, as I didn't pre-treat. I'm going to try bleaching it out. I may do some actual stain and dirt tests with just Charlies and then with their general cleaner as a pre-spot. It gets rave reviews, so maybe its the type of water. I've been using more than recommended, but didn't get an actual scoop that I can find. How big is it?

Someone mentioned rubbing stains with Zote soap and letting sit as a pre-wash also.

I just got some Charlie's Soap too. I haven't used it a long time, but have noticed my whites are much brighter and I do like the way they smell. Also, my FL has a much fresher scent to it!

Our clothes aren't really dirty, but I do use fairly warm/hot water when washing mostly because our hot water tank is set higher than most because we take long showers and my DH likes hot water.

I do pretreat with the liquid Charlies general purpose, but most of our clothes are just normal dirt. My kids are past the grass stains and food spills for the most part. I had been using the Tide Free or Cheer before. I really dislike some of the scents the commercial laundry soaps have. When my nephews come to visit, I'm amazed at the over powering scent of their laundry when I open their suitcase!

I'd be interested in hearing what the Charlie's Soap people have to say if you contact them. Do you have hard water? I did see a note on their website about hard water, but didn't pay much attention since we have city water.

My family had a water softener, growing up (PSA -- with salts and caused heart problems). So our water is at least that hard. Have no idea how much though or how to compare.
