How much would glass cost, or like you said, faux chintz tile? We all have different ideas of what we'll pay. Unless you scan sell them for a profit, I say cut 'em up!!

Who gives a rat's patooty if you make a profit. I figure on the things I sold, I probably LOST. If you love it, it fits your needs, you can afford it and you just HAVE TO HAVE IT, girlie, PAY THE PRICE. There's something to be said about "quality of life". I remember paying waaaaaaaaaay more for fabric and paying postage on it to the third world countries I lived in just to cut it up. No difference. What REALLY burns me up is recently I ordered some replacement cover tips for my breaking pliers. Delphi packed them in a HUGE box and charged me more postage than the price of the two sets of parts. They could have been mailed in a letter-size envelope! Now THAT's too much!!! While I'm on my soap box, Harbor Freight wanted to charge me over $7.00 for a $1.00 replacement tip to my soldering iron. NOT - I'll buy a new one first. Finished rant and back to work.

Guess what, y'all, I don't have time to shop anymore - too busy mosaicing w/what I have on hand.

gosh I wish I had time to go shopping...I'm so envious of you all right now!!!!

Oh and in my opinion...Nice you break them plates (or cut them carefully in your case!!!!) and you enjoy it!!!! If we can waste money on a 5.00 cup of coffee...you can buy some pretty plates at 5.00 a piece and not feel a bit bad about it!!!!!

I guess I'm a frugal mosaicer, I won't pay more than 50 cents a plate for used plates to break. For $5.00 I expect the whole set(cups and bowls too). Goodwill has about out priced me as they are so high for a used set of dishes its cheaper to buy them new from a closeout store.

But if you got the money I don't see any reason not to pay $5 for your plates if they make you happy. I was raised thrifty if I had the money I'd still be buying my plates on the cheap just buying more of them.
