SPICE: Those pieces are fabulous - the mosaics AND the art. I detect you paint as well as mosaic. NOW - tell me how you make the grout color "stay in the lines", and how do you get such vivid colors of grout, and how do you keep the lines so clean?????????????? Your work is so unique. How long have you been mosaicing? More info, please.

I studied under Isaiah Zagar (http://www.isaiahzagar.org/) in Philadelphia. I have been doing this for a few years. Yes, I also paint as well. I paint the grout AFTER I have completed the mosaic...much EASIER...really it is....I photograph the work b4 i grout, that way i know where to paint the lines...does this help?...feel free to ask more questions.

WOW, that is so bold and I just love it. Very modern and makese me think of picasso. Jane and I got a piece of backerboard, I didn't know what to do with it, but you have me inspired to do a bold and vibrant piece like this. What sort of paint were you using, and what color did the grout start out.

Thx klinger...the grout was plain grey and i used acrylic paints.

I'm familiar w/Isiah's website from when I first started mosaicing and Googling all the sites. I like your work better than his - not quite as busy. Very interesting style, and sooooooooo neatly done.

How cool is it that you got to study with Zagar? I first becamse aware of him while putzing around YouTube. Oh man, I love his work and the inspiration he provides.
