it looks to me like they made the peices of the walk with the tiles in the mold thats the only way i know of they could have gotten it that smooth i used this on my stepping stones you just put your glass or tile in the mold upside down and pour the concrete in on top when its dry unmold and the tile glass etc it perfectly smooth and no messy grout

I think they just layed down tiles and broke up pices of tile to fill in ?

I think SHELLYB has nailed it, cuz look at the pie-shaped piece in the curve, and look at the divisions - not a regular walk that they've glued onto. There's spaces, so it looks like they made molds and used the indirect method.

WOW What perfection! Inspiring for me, as I gear up to mosaic my front door area and bedroom patio! Thanks for posting this as it is something I was thinking of doing(pattern wise) and now that I see it I'm def going with this other plan I have, at least for the front patio. I still want to incorporate this as a border for my bedroom patio tho so ya, it's great/very helpful that you posted this!

SLOW's slowing down! They did a fabulous job, but I'm wondering if the pieces w/settle and come apart. Doesn't look like they're joined. LISA: They invite questions/comments. Why don't you write them to see if they'll explain?

It would be interesting to find out how they reenforced it as it does looked poured, and how thick these slabs are. I wanna do some paths with poured concrete, and do it in stages, pour it and then mosaic it later, when I have time, and vision. I still got a sneaky snake and mushrooms to do....and yes Shorty, a peacock!!! lol! Or was that Tiffy??? Probably both! lol!

Ok, I emailed these people and asked if they'd tell me their method for this walkway. They took forever to respond and when they did, they're only explaination was "we did it by hand". LOL. Okay! I was hoping for a LITTLE more than that! Funny!

Don't understand why people don't like to share their "secrets". It's obvious that it's "by hand", but as Gypsie says - " I didn't invent mosaics" - so what's the harm in sharing your techniques? That's why this forum is so good - we share.

It almost looks like it's faux mosaic, perhaps using concrete stain/dye?
