Your building department will be helpful to you. They are there for you and will provide answers to your questions. So when you visit with them bring a list of questions and thoughts you may have. That will make it painless.
Remember, you want to bring your windows up to code anyway, don't you?
So take their requirements and share them with a few of your local window suppliers (if your doing it yourself) or a window retailer.

2.PGT WINDGUARD, this company is in my backyard in Venice, Fl. They are the innovators in the impact window business.
3. Building Dept is only going to be concerned about the windows.
