Plexiglas Skylight heat

We have a plexiglas (or some other plastic-like substance) skylight in our kitchen that runs the length of the kitchen (15') and is about 1' high. It sits at an angle in the corner. I've noticed that quite a bit of heat comes through the skylight and we have an open floorplan, so the entire downstairs is probably getting this heat. It's frosted, but I don't think that's really helping much.

Anyone have any ideas for shading it (creative ones welcome)? Window film cannot be used (at least the DIY film).
