I didn't even know you did stained glass panels....

Go for it, if it doesn't fit, it will still be pretty without the frame so I can't see it being a wasted effort.

Thanks for the encouragement nicethyme, I originally took a stained glass class, I found a few books on mosaics and have been hooked ever since! DH keeps asking why I mosaic everything now.....duh! Maybe I'm doing this panel just to keep him happy, and if I screw it up maybe he'll have a better understanding about the "mosaic madness".

You should have some "wiggle room". Isn't there a piece of moulding that actually holds the glass in place?
I did a piece of stained glass for my sisters piano. It had to fit precise. There was nothing to cover the edge of the glass. I made a cardboard template that fit perfect. When I started assembling the foiled pieces to solder, I worked form the middle out. That way if a piece went over the edge of the template, I could grind it down and re-foil to make it perfect.
Sounds a little complicated, but not really.
I too used to do only stained glass windows. YES it is so much easier to mosaic!!!

I can relate! Just did a mosaic after working with stained glass for a while and the mosiac is much more forgiving, but from what I've seen of your pieces, you can certainly do this.

I just bought a 6 pane window from my great uncle (Grandmother's brother) much to my surprise! He still owns a lumber mill and when he discovered who I was, he invited me to return this coming Saturday to check out more windows. He's got them stashed 'in building #19 on the third floor' where no one but him is allowed, and he needed time to get them out. He knows what I'm looking for. I'm so excited about the prospect of seeing him again too!! Can't wait!

DH and I went to Shreveport today to find a glass emporium we heard of. Armed with a map, we found it quickly. Lo and behold, they are starting a beginningers class next Saturday. I paid my deposit to start my first stained glass class! WooHoo! I never really cared for stained glass per se, but I think it was the subject matter more than the art. Lately it's become more enticing and I'm diving in!

You can do it Squirrlley.. that's all I know about doing something like that!!

Bama, I saved the broken glass from the window and taped it up to use as a template. I've nailed a wood frame around the glass so I won't go over the edge, I'll cut the pattern with my copper foil scissors to leave room for the solder line, that's as far as I've got, still have a fear of cutting the glass.
