when I was a kid my BF's dad took us to all the pottery factories along the Ohio river and I think Fenton glass too (I remember big bins of chunk glass waiting to be melted) that was such a cool day trip and fascinating even for a teen!

I've only been here for three months, and when I first came here, I looked up places of interest, and the op shop was one of them. I went to the shop where they sell finished items, it was there that I thought I'd lie to try stained glass, and that turned into mosaic. I haven't been back since I started trying my hand at this, but I will be going to tour the factory and visit the supplies shop as soon as I can fit it in!

Me and Cindy were talking about Spectrum and Seaglassic and Little & Lewis, as one trip, BUT now I wanna include Kokomo and Hazel!!!!
And lets not forget that Slow and Rosie live near the Kiln Company, (Paragon?), which while I'm thinking about it, we should decide on a convention and plan a tour of that place as an activity to do!!!

Jane-tell me about that company! I went to Benheim who is the US wholesaler and I had to request a password to view the price catalog! So I figured I would request it, their site wouldn't even accept my request because their IP address apparently decided I wasn't worthy or some such nonsense. (My DH says that the have software which identifies senders to keep down on spam. He used technical terms I don't understand.) Anyway, not just any company has that kind of filter so are they that big and sophisticated or what!? And beautiful! That's why I wanted the price catalog. Now I'm really curious!

That Lambert glass looks awesome - very beautiful indeed, I love the streaky glass. Field trip to Germany? :)

I heard that it is like $300 a sheet! and that is 24"x36"!!!

Sunshine, I gather they only want to communicate with architectural firms or large contractors.

But man is it beauty FULL! wow, handblown sheets - did you see the pic of the guy standing on the platform with that pipe, the glass on there must be some HEAVY!!!!!!!!

if you want an idea of the miles and time to go to either...do a google map search to either of them, from Tumwater.
both are under two hours but in different directions.
well, sortof..northwest and northeast..either on different sides of the sound.

Spectrum is north on the Seattle side and Little and Lewis in north on the Bremerton side and without looking, I can't be sure of the ferry schedule.

A lot of folks are getting skiddish now, about the ferry runs, since there were two suspicious men, taking unusual pictures of areas of the ferry, while on a run.
they were alerted to the police and now people are trying to keep an eye on the crowd, as the ferry runs across each distance.

I've driven up to Little and Lewis and that's a nice drive..easy to find and it's gotta be soon, cuz they close for the season at the end of September. then there's the wait, till Spring..or May..I think it's May.
The way it was before, they were only open on Saturdays. I know the lady I went with and I, called ahead of time, to make sure it was open and clear for the visit. it's free and they welcome any and all pictures being taken but they ask that they not be put into the public domain.

Woodenville is under two hours and it's a trip up past Seattle and off to the East. There's a fabulous winery up there..Chateau St. Michelle...
I was there one time for an outdoor festival for blue grass music...in horribly hot weather..back in '88.
I'm sure I would never recognize the place any more..things have a way of changing so very much.

You forgot Bullseye in Portland, OR. From the Olympia area it's less than 2hrs. There are also active glassblowing demonstrations right in the center of Seattle, the place seems to live and breathe glass. Chinatown is a blast and a good place to eat!

Oh My!! Bullseye is in Portland Or.!!!! Oh I LOVE their glass too!!!! Seattle does seem to have a lot of Glass Class!!! heh heh!!! I was googling oceana glass and came across this site ...

I'm in a 'not knowing' state of mind...lol
chickeemama gave me some eye openers, when we met a few weeks ago and visited the glass store near me.
heck, she jumped right in and scrambled my mind, while she was going through the limited selection of glasses they have. I had not a clue what was happening..lol
