Hmm, don't know. But how about using the glitter paint that's clear with tiny glitter particles? Just brush on over your grout.

In my opinion it should..heck we put paint in some of our grout..why not the glitter? To make sure you should make a small test piece and mix up a little bit of grout put the glitter in and see how it works..then if it doesn't work you can throw the test piece away and not ruin your pretty Christmas tree!!

Sunshine, recently I used glitter acrylic paint in my grout. I used almost the entire bottle in the grout. It sparkled some. Next time I would either try just glitter or better yet, paint the glitter acrylic paint on top of the grout.

I've used glitter in grout on my workshop wall just to test it, since it's a crazy wall and has all colors grout. It works fine. If you want it to be REAL glittery, use more. You can tell by looking at your grout how much shows up. Recently someone who was searching for info on glitter in grout, and didn't want to spend the money on the Spectra Lock, found my posting on Google re the glitter/grout. She emailed me w/questions. She was grouting her kitchen counters in dark slate, and I think she bought six bottles of the glitter. I'm happy to report that her results satisfied her immensly and it was a successful project. I referred her to the forum, but she's too busy, me thinks, to join. Go for it.

Slow-you mean you used regular glitter, right? The lady used six bottles of regular glitter for her counter tops? That went a pretty long way. I would rather put it in the grout than have another step of painting if I could avoid it. Gonna do a little price comparison and then dive in.

I have put glitter in my grout.........in black grout....and it worked........but didn't put enough..less was not more in that case!!

First off, BAMA's thread "Look at this" yesterday explains how Laurel True puts glitter in her grout - smushes it in while the grout is wet. I've done it two ways before I knew how she did it. I put it directly into the grout - but like Gypsie says - you need a lot if you want it REAL glittery. And for REAL glitz, I've also painted the grout w/glitter glue, which is VERY effective. There is fine glitter and course glitter. The fine is harder to find. Depends on how glittery you want your grout to be. Experiment, experiment, experiment. That's what I'm about.

I've used glitter, glitter paint and the Spectra Lock. All worked well, and depending on the application rendered the glitter just as I had hoped.

I think though the easiest is to use the paint wash after grouting. The glitter can be somewhat troublesome in the grout as you apply it initially.

Helen-I found what you say to be very true. I wound up painting some of the stuff I had grouted anyway. I do want to try spectra lock at some point though. Thanks gang for your input.

I haven't used glitter at all but I'm gonna weigh in anyway. Seems to me like, you only NEED the glitter on the surface, 'cause anything beneath the surface of the grout isn't going to show anyway. So why waste all that glitter getting enough IN it, when you can use a lot less and just put it ON it? Whether you paint it on or mush it on?

see there I learn something everytime I come in here I did a straw caddy for my kitchen. I tried the glittery paint and I found that the glitter didnt distribute evenly so I was going to just regrout it plain but..... now I think I will try this. Thanks slow.
