What kind of wood is best for an outdoor deck top rail. We used PT and it got all splintery and looks and feels awful. Maybe it was a couple of strangely cut pieces but there was no way to sand these down smooth to begin with, hard to explain. But there must be something else that won't break the bank. Considered the fake stuff but afraid that it will bow. I have a 12ft. run with only 3 supports two at each end and and one in the middle. So about 5 1/2 ft run with no bottom support.
