the first pic was a huge turkey platter I picked up at a G.S., I decided that it would make a nice birdbath now I just have to find time to work on the pedestal. DH brought home 2 aeriated concrete panels and I want to use 1 for this project since they are easy to carve with a regular kitchen spoon, I figured that I could create some kind of interesting design for my birdbath. The second pic is a BB I used CDs on it and I really like the colors they give off in the sun, but its yet another pedestal I dont have time to make right now so both are just sitting in my living room collecting dust.

Great looking projects, and that blue with the swirl is so very precise! Fun when you have sun projects to post, and get feedback on!

Shelly, love the spiral on your BB and your infamous tray is nice too..although I'm sure it would look nicer if you could have gotten it off your sidewalk!!! LOL

Hey Shelly, can you tell me about that epoxy please. Is it the same as the epoxy that someone used on their bathroom sink? What is the brandname? Besides obviously sticking well-lol-the look is great! Where do you purchase it? Is it worth using to get that look, or do you think it can cause more problems than it's worth? Thanx.

BTW-love the birdbath and the bowling ball too!

I dont recall the brand name but its the kind you get in any craft store that can be used as fake water in a vase. I have used it in several vases and it dries hard as a rock and crystal clear so I thought it would work well for mosaics as well. be very careful where you set it to dry I dont recommend the sidewalk or countertop.

shelly - very pretty pieces! I thought that the BB was crash glass - until I read that it's CD's - boy, those are tiny pieces!!

Have you thought of driving over the tray with your vehilce???!!! Maybe that will help that sucker come loose!!! I did get a good laugh at the tray. I had actually forgotten about it.

I thought the BB was crash glass. How clever to use the broken CD's I actually had to go take a third look to make sure. Was it hard to cut the CD's up?

The CDs are actually very easy to cut. I tried lots of different things to cut them and found that toenail clippers work great for refining smaller pieces, and tin snips that DH let me borrow actually worked the best.
