Jane, Oh how I know how you feel. I was just impressed that anyone would take up such a huge project. I'm with you on the idea that patterns are made to be broken, changed, edited, revised, etc, etc. I have no doubt you will make it look great!

Oh Jane it will turn out great. The Jane way is great. I know what you mean about using extra solder...isn't that what is for??!!! I have yet to do anything that really fit the pattern the way its supposed to..that is why I favor lead to foil...lead is SOO much more forgiving!! I have been so anxious to see you finish this peacock..I so want to see it completed..I know it will be so awesome!!! I believe in you Jane YOU CAN DO IT!!

Wow, I can't believe you took on a project that big as a newbie. If a pattern has more than 15 pieces I ditch it!!! I applaud your courage and I'm sure it's gonna look divine once you finish!

So I guess we can all say peacock now! I am so looking forward to the finished product!! I just love peacocks, it doesn't have anything to do with pressure. I think if you do it the Jane way, or any other way, it will be terrific!

There's gonna be a LOT of happy people when that project is finished and posted. And, like everything you do, girlie, it'll be a masterpiece. Who cares if it isn't what the pattern intended. That's where creativity comes in, and you certainly aren't short on creativity. You should have the crown on that subject alone. BTW when did you say you were making the "crown"? It's in the back of my mind but I can't get there yet. I don't remember seeing your "stockings" either. :)

Thanks for Cheering me on Everyone! It seems silly to have dragged this on for yrs like I have. Especially since one of my fav sites used to be the Aanraku site, where everybody does these things in like 7 days AND it's perfect!!! SHEESH!!!
Slow, I've got that book about working with metal and am still percolatin' the crown. I worked on my valance some more, and still haven't found the right material for the stockings yet, everything here is now plasticy mesh so am scrounging some old metal mesh, just haven't found it yet!

Can I take my foot out of my mouth long enough to ask where you bought the pattern? I've been collecting Peacock feathers, pictures, jewels.. the glass gets used... and stuff for a long time. But, the space is taken up with my 'white elephant' and the only patterns I have are closed tails and I'm not too happy with them.

Have you got a farm supply place near you? The Tractor Supply Company carries all sorts of galvanised mesh for poultry and small animals.

Yvonne: I bought a book of patterns that is by an AWESOME stained glass artist, Terra!!! She does incredible stuff!!
This book was put out in 1988. A real oldy! But I'd like to be able to do every pattern in it!! They are all beautiful! Plus I have an old book on lamps that I picked out like 6 lamps I'd like to do!ha! I have made the offer before that I'd sent a copy to whoever wants one of this peacock or any pattern as that goes, I just gotta finish with this one first and get the glass off it to coppy it!lol! If you google her name you'll find more of her books too!

Thanks Jane, I spent an enjoyable time at the sgi website but it seems that pattern is out of print. Do you have a title or book number please so I can contact them.
I'll also look in the local stash of used pattern at our local store. They have library of stuff going back into antiquity!
You should make a lamp they're pretty easy to do.

I looked it up by googling terra parma patterns 1988 and found the book but they wanted $31.95!!!Used!! It was also VERY interesting to me that the chicken pattern I want to do and have the glass picked out fot is her pattern!!! I don't know where I picked up this chicken pattern but I find it so bizarre that it a pattern of hers. This pattern is 65pcs.
