Title: Soiree a Paris (Evening in Paris)

Up until now, I have posted conversations & pictures of my Paris Night Scene mosaic project as: HELP! Questions about tempered (crash) glass for mosaics.

With the help of a new friend from this forum, I have purchased sheets of tempered glass from an on-line source - Store Supply Warehouse.

I am slowly making progress piece-by-piece on my Paris night scene. I have added a fused glass street lantern, my 1st project in my new glass kiln, which takes up most of the floor space in my art studio (the shed!). Now, I know what a sardine feels like! On the travertine tiles around the name plaque (not done yet) and entwining the wrought iron piece on the right, I will be adding fused English ivy leaves and green wire.

I will attempt to paint the Seine River area with acrylic paints, adding all of the reflections from the Eiffel Tower, the lights, trees, the bridge & retaining walls, the moon and the boats! Then, I will place the cracked tempered glass over the entire water area.

Right now, I am overwhelmed with the tedious work ahead, as I have invested over 40 hours in this project so far. But as always, I am having a blast!

A close-up of Ã¢ÂÂPouty LipsÃ¢ÂÂ (her nickname) and the Street Lantern. Before I got my new glass kiln, I had to pay a small fee to use the glass kilns at my local glass supplier, GlassLink in Fort Wayne. The woman is a Ã¢ÂÂcontourÃ¢ÂÂ fuse to allow more detail to show, whereas the street lantern is a Ã¢ÂÂfullÃ¢ÂÂ fuse.

The Nikon piece fell off something. I found it; IÃ¢ÂÂll re-purpose it!

I used a mini-hacksaw to remove the 1st & 2nd rear platforms of Tower, so that the figurine would lay flat on the MDF. I still had to remove some of the fiberboard surface in order to seat the Tower for a 3-D effect (the grout will hide the cut-out area around the Tower).

The moon is a clear glass drop, and I added silver foil to its underside for illumination.

At night, the Eiffel Tower is illuminated with 1,000Ã¢ÂÂs of gold-colored strobe lights. To get this effect in my mosaic, I cut & glued pieces of gold mirrored glass on the underside of the Eiffel Tower.

Wow, this is really an amazing piece! I don't think I've ever seen so much creativity and so many different things put in a mixed mosaic.
