This is not exactly what you are looking for but........... I used to do cross stitch and there are many wonderful patterns that could be converted over to Mosaic. Same idea. Each square is a color. You might find a pattern you like and blow it up using your scanner.

Any special kind of pattern you are looking for? I still have my books I think.

Another idea is scan the picture you are interested in copying. Then in your regular photo program keep clicking the + to enlarge the picture until it becomes pixilated (SP?) and there you have it. Each square will have the color you need. I use Irfanview for my photo processing a free small download off the net.

Sounds like a wonderful idea to do your sofits but oh my aching neck.

MMQCHDYGG: Welcome to the "group". What you're planning sounds like a REALLY creative way to decorate! You might want to work on a substrate and attach it to the parts you're wanting to cover though. That way it will be much easier to work on and if you hate it (nah, that won't happen!) or want something different later, you can remove the entire piece without having to repair walls, etc.

Oh, that sounds like a WONDERFUL idea. Anxious to see your first WIP.

Kelly, you might want to try "Paint.net"

It's a free download (not trial -FREE) with many Photoshop abilities. Still learning but it's a cheap alternative

shades & rose- Thanks for the great ideas...esp the one for Zooming in on a pic...I've used that for other things, but it didn't occur to me for this application.
Definitely will be using a substrate for all mosaics in the house...DH already gave me his lecture on ruining the sheetrock, but I'd already planned on doing on Sub first, then putting that up.
