How do you get it out after it's set, line with plastic?

Thanks, LILY. I have read in several places (including mosaic books I got at the library a couple days ago) to line the mold with petroleum jelly. So I bought two of the economy sized jars. (I think the cashier's eyebrows jumped just ever so slightly as she rung those up...;)

Ladyronnie: I just LOVE this shape and your creative idea behind it! Just don't toss it out when you are done with your mold. It is way too pretty. I think you could fill it with dirt and use it as an herb planter or something, don't you think? Of course after your stepping stones.

Hey, JANIE BO! Glad you're up to posting! The inside measure is 13" (ok, 12 3/4" to 13", depending on where you you measure! But it's close enough to symmetrical for a stepping stone!) Yeah, I have some of that "other" kind of mold around here too. Just never have been able to figure out how to make concrete stick to it!

MANGO: "Toss it out"??? Are you crazy? I don't toss hardly anything that might live to see another day or use somewhere! Actually I hope to make a bunch of stones to sell also, so it should get a lot of use.

GREY: Oh, I betcha could do it if you have the tools available. I just had to go online and find out what angle the cut had to be to come out right, that's where I got the 22.5 degrees. Which I think was a bit inconsistent with our table saw, but it worked good enough.

Uh huh, that's what I wanted to know - how you figured the angle... google is our friend! lol

NT: I COULDA gotten it on my own if I'd taken my calculations one step further. I figured, ok, there are 8 angles, 360 degrees in a circle, 45x8=360, so every angle ought to be 45 degrees. But when I set the saw angle at that, it looked way too steep, and I thought, Two 45's make a 90, that can't be right. So THEN I googled it, and got the 22.5 degree figure. BUT each angle is made up of TWO sides, and 22.5x2=45. I'da had it if I'da just split my 45 degree figure between the two sides. But it was a lot easier to EXPLAIN just saying I googled it, without the process! Had I googled it to start with, I wouldn't have done ANY of the math! But don't tell my kids that!!! LOL

Thats great! I was discussing with my sweetie this afternoon about making a mold out of wood for my birdbath. He said that I wouldn't need to coat it with vaseline because concrete doesn't stick to wood. (I think I will anyways though, to be safe.)

Hey Bama, the moisture in the concrete will swell the wood and it'll be hard to remove. Either coat the wood and or seal it up well and you will be far happier,
