He has a good eye cuz he learned at the feet of a real PRO. HAZIE, I'm so glad you posted this. It's a lovely bowl, and he should feel sooooo proud. I'm sure this won't be his last piece, and I'm sure you're just thrilled to have him as a partner. There are LOTS of male mosaicists, so he's just joined the fun w/many. What's his next project?

Uh, Hazie.....that one'd make a GREAT companion for the one I received in the bowl swap! DH has really "gotten" it, hasn't he? Wonderful work! I'd LOVE for mine to work with me, but no luck so far....

You are so lucky! I spend tons of time "enjoying" Nascar and working on the bike and tinkering with the boat but do you think I could get my BF to spend time doing one of my passions with me? BUT... he does bring me stuff to do. He just brought me a 3 paned window. Your DH did a wonderful job! And he used the glass globs! I think its great! I hope you get to enjoy it again!

remember that couple who did fabulous mosaics, as their main business?
I think their name is something like
Terrlazini's or Terrzinni's or however it's spelled.
I know the wife went back to school and he continued to do some mosaics but not on such a grand scale.

I used to have their site bookmarked but that was on a different computer.
they did the large furniture pieces, with massive bunches of cool things on them..like the grandfather clocks, that sold for over $1,000

hell, he oughta not be worried about being thought gay!
it's not like he's sitting there with a feather boa around his neck, while he's grouting away!

it's a wonderful bowl and very nice composition.
my compliments to the artist.

The bowl is wonderful and for his first project he really did a wonderful job. There are many great male mosaicists. Maybe if you show him some of their websites he'll feel more okay with it and make even more great stuff.

Very pretty - I mean manly-looking! Got to show my son. I've always tried to push my kids, boy and girl, to be interested in at least one artistic/creative thing as well as the sports that they were interested in. I would be so proud, as I'm sure you are, if anybody I loved produced this and how great for him to be interested in the same thing you are. 'Course I guess it won't do for both of you to become fanatic........

...but we won't tell if he IS wearing a feather boa...that's between you and him... (wink)

Hubby did a WONDERFUL job. I agree with MM. There are lots of male mosaic artists. Looks to me like you married one. My hubby could no more do a gog bowl than the dog. It takes a knack and it looks like your hubby has is. OH Drool. You are so lucky!!!!

How wonderful it must be to share your space with your DH! My DH does woodworking...he used to cut stuff out of wood for me to paint. I think I could probably talk him into trying but I think he would prefer not having to do it! I did get my DD to mosaic something and I am doing my best to get her hooked...still working on roping in my DS though.

Your DH did an awesome job on the bowl. Hope to see more of his projects in the future!

Hazie, DH did an excellent job on his first project! Congrats to him! If you ever go to an arts and craft fair, there are many male artists. No shame in being artistic. My DH made some of the most creative costumes for our kids.

My DH wants to learn stained glass. He would be much better at it than me because he is an engineer and likes precision.

He is SOOO supportive of my mosaics. He had his own shed built so he could move all the tools out of mine. He said mine is a 'shop'. his is a 'shed'.

Now you have him hooked, there's no limit to what you all can do.
