Barb, I love the butterflies. It's hard to see the details but looks beautiful. Are you going to fill the background or leave clear?

BTW, what do you use as adhesive and how do you get it all over the pieces so there's no grout creep? Gog has intimidated me coz my first one had a bad case of grout creeping.

when i use silicone [which im using here] i squirt a bead all around the edge of each piece and then some in the middle - then i stick it in place and smoosh it around to spread the glue. of course then i have to use a toohpick and clean up the glue that squishes out. when i use weldbond i paint the glass base with a thin coat of the weldbond first then each piece as i place it. takes a long time to dry clear but works really well...barb

Looking spectacular! My old handyman was doing some work for my neighbor and asked me if I wanted 3! old wooden windows. They match, I'm thinking fireplace screen.

Those are just beautiful! I have a couple of old windows screaming to be done, I have been just so chicken to start one !
I do feel a bit foolish asking.. what on earth is a gog?

Oh, Oh, Oh! So very pretty. Love the dark wings. The yellow/white and brown is wonderful too. Can't tell too much but her spots are wonderful.

Again quite lovely, but please tell me the drawing for the butterflies is on the OTHER side of the glass?

OHMYGOODNESS. BA1JE, that textured glass gives such a wonderful effect. I couldn't imagine what it was going to look like w/clear glass, but this is truly a WONDERFUL work of art, and those butterflies look soooooo on top of the glass. Boy, do they just jump off that piece. Truly a fabulous job of mosaicing. Charcoal.

Barb, I just picked up this thread, it was neat to watch your "progress" all in one sitting. They are lovely. I'd go a lighter gray than charcoal, so as not to overwhelm your beautiful butterflies with too much busy-ness. I do have a question: are these patterned after real butterfly species, or just random color choices? Either way, they are lovely!

OMG!! That is soooooo beautiful. Your butterflies have so much detail. I was also wondering about your choice for the clear glass background. You knew what you were doing, though because it is just perfect. Clear..who knew?!?

I'm a Black fan!!! Gotta get that vote in!! Sheesh, there has been so many inspiring projects on this forum lately (as usual!) And this one is REALLY LOVELY AND INSPIRING!!! Did I mention I have like 20 windows?!?! Can't get at them yet(insert pouting) but have ol Roosty to keep me busy till I can copy this lovely window of yours!!! Butterflies go to Mexico??!! Well, just another reason to go!!!heh heh!!!

Wow, I also just love what you've done with that, the butterflies just pop right out surrounded by the clear glass, I guess charcoal or black, but I always agonize over grout choices,
