Ivory? and then it might be nice to paint the grout in the glass areas to match... not sure but I think I'd want to "disappear those lines so they don't compete with those FAB plates!

My initial thought was a light brown...but that is beige isn't it!!! Beautiful tray.........!!!

Thanks, ya'll!! There is an easy way to make circles (I am so-o-o-o-o compulsive about things like that!) I measure the plate or saucer, add about 1" to the measurement then find something that's close to the larger diameter, trace around it and stick the rim along the pencil line.

Lovely tray CURB! My first inclination was a grey, only because it will accent all of your pieces and not make it too SC. But my next thought was a darkish red (terra cotta?) on the red background and a tan/beige on the plates. It really depends on what kinda of look you're going for. To keep the plates looking like they aren't broken I'd opt for beige/tan but I'm afraid all beige might wash out the beauty of the piece. BUT then again, what do I know? How about trying that computer program that will show you the different grout colors?

Curb, your tray is gorgeous! Wow! It is stunning! I agree with Rosemary and NT, my tendency is to say match the grout color to your red/burgundy glass filler then go off white with the plates. It will look great even if you grout it all offwhite.

Yep - that's the CURBDIVER perfection that I saw in person on the BB when you visited Texarkana. How did you do this so FAST???????? And so PERFECT??????????? That is simply gorgeous. Keracolor Pearl Grey from Lowes is a nice neutral.

I tend to agree with Rosemary on the grout...although beige would seem the obvious choice, your plates ARE stunning, and to match the grout with the plate would seemingly make them "flat & uninteresting" whereas they ARE the focal-point of this piece.
HOWEVER, that having been said, I think the ENTIRE work of art will stand out significantly more if you went with that beige grout, and painted the tray itself black. It would give it a very oriental feel, and (IMHO), the red glass & plates would pop off the darker tray.
