I haven't been posting here in ages...sooo busy!, finally popped in today and can't believe all the beautiful things everyone is making! Your moth is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!!! So much detail, I love the use of chain, it's just soooo gorgeous!!

I just have to keep coming in and looking at this. It's awesome!

This is my all-time favorite GOG (so far; lots of talented folks on this board!) I hadn't seen the updated pictures so had to come and peek at them tonight.

Good afternoon ladies. Thank you.
There has been progress. So, yes, I guess
it's time to update.

The chain is filled and all that's left is piecing in
all of the edges...tedious stuff. I can't believe how
long this has taken to do...about 50 to 60 hours I'm
thinkin'.

This is the biggest area left to do...

Hopefully the next update will be grouted!

I was thinking, if you wanted the bb's to "tarnish", couldn't you put some patina on them? I'm not sure if you know about copperfoil, or leaded panels, but that's the chemical you put on the solder or lead to darked, or age it.

Nope....don't know diddly about tarnishing chemicals.
What exactly is it... is it easy to use...etc???
I would loooove to tarnish those things. Even added more
to the border to try and help balance my mistake. Didn't
work though...now there's just more bling on a very subtle
looking piece. By the way, those BB's are coated in zinc
if that makes a difference.

Amazing, and stunning art work linlee!

I have a patina that I use that is a coppery patina..not copper patina it makes a difference. The other patina makes them a shiny copper color. If you can patina them (I dont know if you can zinc or not w/o scuffing them up first) and want them to be tarnished the coppery patina works great. It almost makes them look aged and rusted.

I like it even if you don't tarnish those ballchains. This moth is just stupendious!!!!!

Wouldn't know what words to use in expressing how BEAUTIFUL this is, linlee!! I think they've all been used, and, frankly, they all come up short of truly fitting it's elegance. WOW!! Can't wait to see it grouted!

I can not believe your Moth could become even more BEAUTIFUL!! I know you feel upset about the bright BB's but for me I love the way you tied them in with the placement of them around the edges. I think it moves the eye around your piece.

I SWEAR every time I see more progress I am stunned at how wonderful this piece is. I keep showing my husband. And now I see you are cutting the green glass around the outer bands. WOW Awsome!!!

Your pieces are so close together and perfectly spaced. This is a REAL work of art. I bet it ends up on that Make Mine Mosaics site soon.

Now....................WAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Finally grouted!
Lost a few BB's along the way. That was quite a learning
experience. My wonderful DH hung the frame today in anticipation of the moth tomorrow...he's such a sweaty.

Here's the full shot. I used the Polyblend in Natural Gray. Will be using an enhancer tomorrow before hanging it...not quite dark enough for me.

That is just insanely gorgeous. I don't think I've ever seen such an incredible design and use of color. The placement of the BB's and the chain work are genius.

LINLEE - this must be the all-time masterpiece of this forum!!! I laughed at your posting yesterday re the missing BB - OH, OH, OH, you HAD to find something wrong w/it, didn't you???? LOL - You silly lady - not another person w/EVER notice it. I can't even see where you're missing it, but if it's gonna bother you, can you dig out a little place in the grout and stick it in? I can't add another thing to what's already been said. I KNOW you must be bursting your bottons on this one. Whatcha gonna do next??? - something small?? - w/larger tesserae? LOL.
