With sanded grout it would scratch, I'll guess.

With unsanded grout it might not . . . but then your interstices would have to be LESS than an 1/8th of an inch apart.

Can you do a test?

I'd test it, if Hazie can grout costume pearls then maybe the wetter method would work on this.

Why not cover it w/tape while grouting?

Slow- "it" would be 5,000 plus Bud Light bottle caps for another project on the TBD list. DH suggested to use clear poly instead of grout. Wondering now if that will turn yellow?

My husband collects beer caps and the paper 6 pack holders they come in! I don't think he has thought about what to do with them, except dream of a bar top someday.
I saw this woman on TV one day, she made amazing portraits with them. I wonder if they are grouted or just sealed.

Isn't she an amazing artist? I saw her on Larry King - she gave him his portrait and it is sooooooo like a photograph of him. Wonder how she does that? They must be HUGE.

WOW, they'd have to be huge... looking at the scale of an individual cap... wow do you think the are crushed flat, I don't see the "chunkyness I would expect.

We think grout would win because of it's versitality. We've always found grouting to be like framing your mosaics. Different colors give different feelings. I've collected glass and have always used odd coe crushed and screened into what I refer to as Colorful Sponge Grout. I use this with grout to add sparkle by sponging it into wet grouted dead areas to add color.
