I've got several projects that I'm juggling and need a 3-4 stretch so I can get closure on at least one of them!

1) Collecting & sorting stained glass scraps and creating mosaic stepping stones as a fund raiser for the children's therapy center where I work.

2) Bought a rock tumbler last night to make some faux sea glass. I want to cover my kitchen counters with it so this will be a long, ongoing project to make enough of it.

3) GOG - my first glass on glass mosaic project - which I've YET to start and must, soon! I want to do the Notre Dame logo for my son in law for Christmas. Originally was going to create in stained glass, but can't figure out a way around those 90 degree cuts without buying a wet ring saw and I don't want to spend that kind of money right now.

4) 8'6" ten-light Spanish cedar door that hubby picked up off of a remodeling job for me. I want to do GOG mosaic and incorporate into our backyard as a hanging, perhaps with some additional windows to use as a privacy screen of sorts. Gotta find a design I like. Hubby wants birds ... lots of birds!

5) Coworker just became a grandma for the first time so I'd like to make her something in stained glass to celebrate. This should be #1 on my list as she's leaving this weekend!

I hit a Whopper of a clearance sale on Wrought iron shepard's hooks for the yard. I bought a bunch for next year !

I hit my local habitat for humanity store yesterday. A full bottle of tile lab sealer for 2.00, a couple of partial bags of grout for a total of 4.00, it was exactly what I wanted to use on my girl project. And also a full bottle of admix for only 2.00. I was pretty pleased with the score. If I haden't found the grout I was looking for I would have headed to the tile shop and bought a full bag.

I have a bird bath i need to do when i'm done with grouting and sealing a table. I'm scared to start it. I have never used plates or cut them. Always been glass or tiles. I keep putting it off cutting them. I need to get to it as it will be a christmas present.

I haven't had time this week OR LAST to hit any store, thrift shop, etc......however, my dear friend Slow picked up that I was needing some red dishes...and so she put them in the mail today....Talk about a jewel for a friend.

broke some windows out of a car and salvaged all it's mirrors too... lol

I haven't actually got my stuff in my hot hands yet. But I ordered a torso, and bunch tigers eye, citrine and jasper
beads for it, and got a reply from freecycle for guitar to mosaic! Just waiting for it all to arrive here, not very paciently I might add. I hate waiting!

OH HAZIE!! You're SO LUCKY!! I've been wanting a guitar to mosaic for about 2 years now. Have tried freecycle but no givers...YET!

I use those same containers Hazie. They are so inexpensive. Just working on Christmas ornaments. Have a pitcher I am trying to get done. Supposed to do a birdbath for a friend-haven't even started. Also have a mirror I want to put together to get done for Christmas. Need to finish the inside of the flamingo box with some batting and cloth. Other than that, I've just been playing with copper, glitter glue and thinset. I did purchase some E6000 yesterday and a few small Christmas Ornaments to try out Slow's idea on Christmas trees. Guess it's time to quit playing and start working.

Well, being out of town for 2 weeks had some perks - the opportunity to ts in smaller towns and get some things I don't see around here!

Don't know where the first platss will end up - 4 for $2 was too cheap to pass up! The little cat with mini gazing ball is eventually going in the yard.

Isn't that the UGLIEST egg you've ever seen?? The plan for it is various colors of "fo go" and whatever else strikes my fancy ala Fabriege(sp?). THe tray under the ugly egg is a try at SC, using the saucer on the right (got 3 of them). Havne't decided the destination for the black and white one on the left. Sorry it's sideways....can't figure out the new camera program!

Finally found a tea set (already had a tray that'll look great with it! NOW to find some SC plates!

Course, some of these are Wa-a-a-a-ay down the TBM list, but had to kill some time waiting for a flat to be fixed on the HUGE commercial van I was driving (3 hours for the guy to drive out to me and get it changed!) - what better way than TS SHOPPING!

I buy those containers at Walmart, they are the Glad bowls.
I pick up some almost every week, they are a couple bucks for 4, and they stack on top of eachother great for storing.
I don't use the lids.

Great score, CURB - you still having trouble w/that van, I see. Y'all, the $store has those containers for $1.00. I use them also for mixing mortar and grout. When I'm too tired to clean it after a project, they are cheap enough to toss.

Can someone tell me what shopping at the TS is? My poor brain has tried to come up with it but no luck so far:)

I bought my green bowls at the $ store. I think they were 4 bowls with lids for 2.00. I wanted the lids to be sure I wouldn't spill my glass while toting it to my new work area outside.
Dang Curb!! Quite a haul there. LOVE the egg. I'm sure you'll do a fantabulous job with it.

Panther - TS is thrift store.... I was so-o-o-o lucky that they were within easy walking distance!

You bring up a good point, tho - maybe we should start a thread to list our (sometimes odd) abbreviations since we have a few newer folks with us.

Oh, Man!!! Maria, those plates are WONDERFUL! Great score at the estate sale and at KMart! Wish we still had those here - they closed 'em here about 4-5 years ago and I sure do miss their great sales.

The first pic is a beautiful set that was only $7.98 for 45 pieces! I grabbed it so fast!!! It's Hira - Carolina Tulip, and I looked it up on replacements.com, and they list a plate at 18.99, and I have 12 of them!

The next pic is W.S. George - Bolero - 6 pieces for 1.99.

And the pansies - 6 plates - 2.99

I got the tile thingy from Home Depot that someone else mentioned recently, sorry can't remember who.

They look cheap and I was skeptical that they would work very well, but they are great. I've only tried them on glass and I need a little practice on my technique because even though I scored a straight line it doesn't always break straight. I haven't played with it enough to figure it out, but I will. I haven't tried it on tile, but did try it on a dish and it didn't work for that at all. I like them because when I break the glass with it the pieces just drop straight down. When I use my wheeled nippers the glass usually goes flying.

I have a severe case of carpal tunnel and the new cutters sure are easier on my wrists than the wheeled nippers too. I have a wet saw for tile and plates, but haven't gotten a ring saw yet.

We went to several yard sales today and DH kept asking me about various dishes but nothing really appealed to me.

lynda & shrty- Most EXCELLENT finds! I'll have to hit up my local KM for those trays...excellent! Btw, are they terra cotta or plastic?

I got a resin birdbath at the Mill Store this weekend, and one plate at the Christmas-Tree Shop, but nothing else. Did a little chopping while we were camping, but didn't get as much done as I'd hoped.

Bama- nice job on the glass, and I saw your WIP- very nice!

Terra cotta. They were marked .39 and .69 but rang up less!!

Oh my goodness! Looking at all of this "stuff" makes me want to go out and wander around. I think half of the fun of doing mosaics is the "hunt" for things to use. My basement is full, but I keep going out and looking ....I can't help it.
