Yeah, I sure could use some lessons also! Good Grief..her first piece....... Love this table! This is really playful...love the freeness of it.....Did she have all the materials to bring and not have to use yours.......and I'm sure she was so grateful and bought you lunch every day and cleaned up for you.........!!! :)

stay home, and let them come to you...
they pay for your time and for their supplies and you just teach what you love...
it's a win-win situation..
and your 'student' is the winner in this one, to be sure.

now, please answer this question that I know you've been asked a thousand times but I never was so into it, that I kept track of the answers......

where do you buy/gather/find most of your tiles and things you put on the mosaics?
there's a certain style only you have, tho the student does show a close relationship to your work??

I notice predominately that you love the bold, primary colors and it's soooooo effective in all you do....
what company's are your favorites?

the only glass shop around here, that chickeemama and I went to one day, carries a full line of spectrum glass and a limited supply of tools but they are mainly into leaded glass stained glass projects...
the one day we were there, I only gathered several large pieces of a broken mirror...that in itself was cool but I had no need for it all and sent it with chickee....

now, I sorta am looking to go shopping for about 6 sheets of the type of tiles y'all mention that are in the little inch squares, in a 12" x 12" tile, that only needs nipping.
I want the irridescent (sp) colors and swirls in the glass.....

after all the breaking of the dishes....for all this time..I don't even care to use them, right now.

well it's no wonder she would eminate Slow's style, that is after all what she begged to buy in Gypsywoman. Clearly Slow's vibrant style speaks to her... and now she is the envy of all of us, for having learned at the side of the throne! LOL!

Slow, you ARE a great teacher!!! She is one lucky lady to have you as her teacher - especially if that is your last student. That table is very artful and eye-gazing worthy.

She has certainly learned well...this table is gorgeous! I just can't believe this is her first project! Did she come up with the design all by herself???? She pencil it in or did she just freehand it?

OMG is RIGHT!! Robbie has it nailed! That is wonderful work! Slow, ya oughta do some classes....she'll be a wonderful advertisement for ya....take on a few students at a time and go on referrals to fill whatever size "class" you want to do at the time...

Here's a thought (now don't shoot me, hon!)...for the TX convention thing next spring, let's have slow teach a class for us in her style or at minimum demonstrate it...I, for one, learn much better from seeing something actually done and getting a 'feel' for the thought process...

GOOD GRIEF!! Y'all are so nice. You've made my day - just got up to these wonderful comments. NT - yeah, right!! GYPSIE: You're bad to the bone!!! No to all but the gratefulness. Except for the red in the hair and a few pieces of blue, green and the jewelry, it's all from my stash for FREE - I didn't charge her for anything. SEA: No WAY would I teach - it drained me dry to do this. I get my glass mostly from HobLob, cut it myself. Jewelry from garage sales, flea mkts, and yes, I like color/contrast. CRAFTY - she started off w/a free-hand design - she's VERY talented - and w/suggestions here/there, she didn't end up using it. I think her style is so much more like GYPSIE's than mine. CURB - that's a great idea - if the workshop is formed, after Rianna leaves, I'd be happy for us all to work on a mosaic project together. The table top is glass and is about 27" diameter on a wrought iron base. Y'all are all so generous w/your comments. She is a very talented lady - a natural for this hobby, and she did the work. She's totally submerged in the craft now and another life is consumed. As GYPSIE said recently concerning this forum sucking another one into mosaics, "our work is done". Thanks again.

Wow slow...you are a great teacher. Yes she did a great job!!! I would be like you and try to give everything away...I couldn't teach for that reason either!!!
