Oh My God!!! That is breath taking!!! WOW!!! I LOVE what you have done. Tile is the only way to go outside with so much area to cover. No one here would be the least bit disapointed! Just in awe!!!!

yellow- man I am green with envy!!!! That is so fan-freakin tastic!!!!! I love how its so free form but has a path for the eye to follow....I am drooling!!! Your gecko (lizard) is great too is that next to the path and we just cant see it? Oh wait, I see its little toes sticking out of the 2nd picture. Great work!!!

Nope, I ain't disappointed you're not using glass. Honestly, I wouldn't want to use glass on a patio project like this. I like going barefoot too much. If I were to use glass, it would have to be tumbled or fired to round off the edges.

Hubby brought me boxes of tiles when I first got the sickeness....then glass took over my life! grinder, saw,
stained glass classes. We both said when we saw this!....." let's use the tiles!" I have cases of them! I'm just afraid of it being slippery! Big grout lines are the key...I don't know how
to do that!!!hahaha
I was so inspired by your project! and hubby was excited
to think the boxes of tiles would be out of his way!!ahha

They've all said everything. I am absolutely stunned. My dear - THIS IS POWERFUL!!! How long have you been doing this type of thing? C'mon - tell you - you're really a pro, pretending to be one of us lowly beginners. Truly amazing - I'm speechless. This, like KLINGER's girl, takes my breath away. I can't imagine myself doing something so grand as this.

That is just way cool. We have a patio outside the front door that currently is aggragate with too much concrete washed/worn away, and it is hard on bare feet, as in poke-y! I have been imagining doing something just such as this. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hazie, I'm of the opinion that with grout lines being every few inches, they should keep it from being slippery. And I didn't use slick tile. Most of this has a slight texture. We haven't noticed any slippyness so far when we get out of the hot tub with wet feet. Tell your DH that mine helps me. He does a lot of the cutting. That saves some ups & downs.

Bianchi, I'm using a small tile saw. The power grab is the glue that I'm using. I thought I would have to keep mixing small batches of thinset in this heat - 95. So it's glue for me. I love this stuff!

LadyR, When you mentioned the front patio, you should have seen the light bulb go off!! I wonder what our home owners ass. would say about that? Or should I even ask?

Crackpot, we shall see. There are 2 kinds of power-grab. I should have mentioned that before! This one says Exterior in large print. The other one doesn't. If it doesn't hold up all of you will be able to hear my weeping. I mentioned to the salesman what I was going to use it for. Hope he knows what he was talking about.

Yellow, when it comes to doing something as lovely as your mosaic on the front patio I say "It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission". Then again, I don't live in an HOA controlled neighborhood, just a **LITTLE** too independent for that.

YELLOW, The patio is AWESOME! Are you planning to cover the entire surface or just the "path"? We, too, have a lot of leftover floor tiles and this would be a FAB way to use them. Are you a Texas girl? I'm only asking because our local contractor said we should use porcelain tiles on our patio because of our weather. I don't wanna (too difficult to cut). Love your blue star!

Rosemarythyme, the entire patio will be covered. As of today I got the rest of the path done. I'll grout it tomorrow and then start another section. I'm planning to put a desert turtle on the oppesit side from the gecco. I don't want him to be lonley! And yes, the HOA was intentional.

I know all about the HOA folks. We have to get everything approved. I would have to submit a detailed drawing of what I was gonna do, materials,etc. Even then I don't see it happening.
I may sneak a couple of lizards on it though!

OH I LOVE THIS!!! Yellow, that is amazing. Let's face it, it doesn't matter what the tesserae is, it's the inspiration of the design that matters!

Thanks! Calamity has cheekees posted pics of her stairs? I haven't run across any. DH says the star was easy! Wait till you see the turtle he did today. But he has a real gift for it. And enjoys so much I hardly get to use it. The saw is a plasplugs wet tile saw. It runs about $50 at ACE.

yello, I think Calamity ment to say chickees (me) posted pics of her stairs. I did my stairs in slate awhile back and she had mentioned it was something she wanted to do.. I think she let her fingers do the walking a wee bit to far!!!

Oh well, I was hoping there were mosaic steps I'd miss.(froning)
