Maybe I should have had a color scheme or something in mind, but I just wanted "stuff" to work with and learn on. I guess I'll start with the ones I don't like as much until I learn a little:)

Oh man...I've been on a mission for some red plates for 3 weeks to put on that dang warrior......you did good...!!! Would barter for that red plate if we were neighbors!!

Gypsy we are pretty far apart, and if it makes you feel better, the picture under the dining room light makes it look more red than it is. I hope you find the perfect thing next time you go out looking.

They were at Goodwill as New stock. I never knew they did this, but they had an area of things they bought to sell in the store. I only found one bag of the blue hearts, but another store had the green stars & the moons. They both had some quite thick blue squares, I'd say almost 1/2 inch thick, maybe 3/4 square. I thought they might be just toooo thick, but maybe I should go get some anyway.... I see problems here just like my glass stash, and what I used to do with fabric when I sewed more, and beads, and .... ;0

Great finds. Don't need a color theme while you're collecting in the beginning. I try to buy plates that are colored all over, instead of just around the rim, cuz I don't use a lot of white. Since the right shades of purple glass is impossible for me to find, I LOVE that purple plate. Gather as many things as possible. If you LIKE it, get it now, cuz it probably won't be there when you NEED it. Building your stash becomes a habit - start breaking, nipping and make something soon.

Good finds - lots of colors that go well together. And, it looks like you picked dishes with patterns not on the dreaded plate footers!

Panther, good finds. Yep, everything will start looking like possibilities. My rule of thumb is, if you like it buy it; chances are high that you will use it later since it is something that appeals to you. Have fun breakin' and makin'!

From beginner-to-beginner, I have to agree on start with the ones you don't like as much first. I did a couple of the 'good ones' first, and although they are perfectly good to use, the shapes are coming out better as I get more practice.

Oh, and another tip I've figure out: When you're looking for plates, and designs, watch to see where the foot is on the plate. I've seen that a lot of designs (the best part of the designs) are either right over that footer or in the part that comes directly up from the center, making it near impossible to cut those sections out for use.
Like someone mentioned, I'm getting an idea what to look for when it comes to 'cut-ability' of a dish.

I hope they have the glass shapes for you. There is a GW or 2 that are the other way, and if I'm going in that direction I plan to stop in and buy more. Wish I'd done it while I had the chance yesterday.

I noticed some plates that were very pretty, but had the design that strayed onto the other area of the plate, and figured cutting them would be beyond me and didn't buy them. I'll not even fret now if I see some, just leave them there without dithering, unless of course the rest of the plate is irresistible! :)
