I dont know if anyone has suggested it yet but if you get a rock tumbler and tumble some of the pieces (they would have to be broken to smaller pieces) it cleans them really really well!!!!!

Im just being curious, how did it all get so dirty? I had a dream a few years ago that I was digging and I kept un-earthing pieces of awesome glass!!!!!

Definitely dont get rid of it though, eventually you will come across SOMETHING that will was it for you if my idea doesn't work for you!!!!

There are no dumb questions here, SAW, just a bunch of wonderful people anxious to help anyone we drag into this addiction. Can't you get a large tub and soak several sheets at a time of the glass in some kind of solution to dissolve the dirt? W/TSP help? I've never used it, but am told it is a good cleanser.

Just a quick thought on cleaning your glass.......try putting it in a tub of water, with something to separate sheets so they aren't stacked directly on top of each other, then drop in a few denture cleaning tablets (any brand will do). When the blue clears, rinse the glass and wipe clean. This has saved several GS glass finds for me that I thought were stained beyond use. It won't solve any etching done, but will remove more than you think it will.

I always look for the easiest way possible when it comes to cleaning something - unless I can TOTALLY ignore the dirt ;)

Oh, and another wonderful cleaner is dishwasher detergent. Just remembered that it cleans my coffeepot and tea pitcher of stains. I just have to soak overnight.
